How should I style my hair to minimize the appearance of hair loss?
When your hair line is receding or you are balding in the crown area, typically you are also experiencing
a reduction in the overall volume of your hair as well. Sometimes this loss in volume isn't apparent to you
even though you know you're losing your hair.
A lot of people mistakenly think that when they're losing their hair they can compensate by growing their hair longer.
Usually this is a big mistake and only makes the hair loss more visible or obvious.
It may seem paradoxical, but when you're losing your hair the best hair style is a short, close-cropped one. Keep the lines
sharp and keep the hair short and you'll improve your appearance. I think this is because when your hair is short the shape of your
head is more uniform when you're losing your hair whereas when you keep the hair long you'll have more obvious "bald zones."
Some people go so far as shaving all their hair off to go for the bald look. This works well for some people, but if you're
not willing to venture into that route then keeping a short hair cut is the next best thing.
I have found that using a concealer like DermMatch, while also having a short hair cut
can really improve my overall look.
You also have the option of getting a wig or toupee of some sort.
