Guys taking propecia?

Post by Tricia »

To those of you taking propecia, have you considered taking Avodart? Just wondered if anyone was thinking of making a switch. I know of, at least, two women who have been prescribed Avodart for hair loss. Yes, women. Definitely, off label prescription.

I have thought about it, but for now, have reserved judgement. My personal thought is that despite the original optimism behind it, not enough is known about how safe it is...

Can you actually take both of them at the same time?
Say 1 or 0.5 mg of each!
or would that by playing with fire!
Just wondering
I have to say; I am very tempted especially when I read about Avodart.
Next week I have an appointment with my dermatologist (knows a lot about hair) so I might ask her what she thinks.

Gaga, I would say no. You can't take both of them at the same time. Really, from what I read, Propecia would be better. It targets the DHT that's in hair follicles. Avodart targets the DHT every where. It seems like it would be prudent to just block DHT in the follicles and not every where else in your body.

The potential for side effects is greater with Avodart.

There is no use taking both at one time.

Take finasteride first for one year before thinking of taking DUT.
