Thanks for the links Jacob,

Obviously as someone with thinning hair my scalp is exposed, and so I can now get sunburnt which is extremely uncomfortable (worse than anywhere else that I've found) and as an inflammation probably damaging for the remaining hair too.

My real question is though, might high SPF blockers be a bit too extreme? If you think about UV's affect on the skin- increasing cell metabolism and melanin production, vasodilation etc. might a little be beneficial?

Could it be the case as with most things, that little, often, and balanced is the way forward?

I didn't even see this post until I looked up the thread for another forum :-s

I personally don't use suncreen and wouldn't for the scalp unless I'm going to be out for a good length of time. Besides these topicals..I've seen articles/studies on probiotics having sun protective abilities(might have been certain strains)...GliSODin...and I use this product that is currently on sale(they have a new one with an added ingredient) which is an ingredient I've taken if I'm going to be out in the sun a good part of the day(it does work): http://www.lef.org/Vitamins-Supplements ... de=SKD901D

Here's the new one:
