I was wondering how things are with you Air.
How are things going?
I have been using Minoxidil 5% since early November. Havent shaded and I think this stuff is making my hairlines thicker or growing or something. My hairlines have defiantly improved.
They (hairlines) never receded but thinned a bit and now they seem to be improviing
Drop us a line or two with some update.

I'm extremely touched to see so much concern for me. This means a lot.
I just don't have anything else to add. The areas I never used Minox (only centimeters away from other areas I applied it to) still have much better density and normal level of fallout, which still supports my theory that Minox can cause more to fall out in its initial use from shedding than it has the ability to ever grow back. At this point looking only from the perspective of a net gain it can be worse and I wish I had never started because I have every reason to believe these areas I applied Minox to would be at the same density as the other areas since they were initially. However, I will continue with Minox and if I ever see any reversal of this assessment I'll let you know.

Anyway, sorry to hear that your situation hasn't improved. My own situation has taken a turn for the worse as well since I was diagnosed with yet another hair loss condition not directly related to my MPB called Lichen Planopilaris.... Here's to hoping 2005 will bring us and everyone else whose losing their hair and not liking it some reprieve.

HELP!!!!
OH CRAP. I've been using minox 5% for about a month on my crown area
Since using it, my hair has about a third of the density (in that area I applied it). After appling the topical solution, I can stand over the sink, run my hands through my hair, and see TONS of hair stands falling out. My salp is now totally visible. Everything I found on the internet told me this was normal, and that the hair would return thicker. That is, until I came accross this thread.
I'm scared what happened to air will happen to me. Is air still around?
I'm stopping the use of the minoxidil. I'll continue to use propecia which I've been on for some time.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this. Is this an allergic reaction? Will my hair grow back?

Don't panic. Yes, it's possible to have an allergic reaction to minox, but it's rare. If you think you're having an allergic reaction to it, you should stop using it, but if you're not sure you should get an appointment with a good dermatologist, preferably one who specializes in hair and hair loss, to get a better diagnosis.
As your family doctor to refer you, and make sure you specifically state you want a dermatologist specializing in hair. If there is one in your area, your doctor should be able to find out who it is and refer, you. Otherwise, at least see a regular dermatologist.
The reason I say this is because IF you are having an allergic reaction, the dermatologist will be able to make a definitive diagnosis, in which case you can stop using minox and know you did the right thing. Otherwise, your derm may tell you that it's okay for you to continue with minox. Wouldn't you want to give yourself the best shot at regrowth? Then get an expert opinion.
