Hi Jacob,

I'm one of those people who had a tough time deciding to use Propecia (actually Proscar...but you know what I mean) because I was worried about using an internal.

But after weighing the potential for side-effects against the possibility of losing my hair, I decided it was worth using. It's been around for a while now and it's safety profile is fairly well-documented now.

Regards,
Sam

Yeah, if you believe what they say regarding it's saftety  Merk is in trouble for another one of their drugs now.

I'd be worried about potential side effects in the future. Especially for young guys- I''m not sure if anyone really knows what it's doing to a healthy prostate(and everything else as discussed in that article) when taking Propecia/Proscar.

There's always the topical route you know....

My concern is less with whether Merck is believable... I don't think in the case of Propecia that this is a problem. I am more concerned with the fact that we don't have any information on the effect of very long term usage of 10 years or more.

We do have 5 year studies that show a relatively safe profile. It comes down to personal choice at that point. I am comfortable enough with it to use it, and that's why I recently added it to my regimen.
