regimen change

Post by James »

I have always had a problem with scalp irritation and I recently had an increase in irritation. I think that the culprit is azelaic acid which is in my beloved Xandrox15 (which I think is the best topical out there right now). I have decided to stop my nightly application of X15 and just use plain 5% ppg free minox instead. If my irritation stops then I will know for sure that it was the azelaic acid. This is pretty crappy since X15 has given me the best results out of every product that I have used. I guess we will see what happens.

Blueshard,

I'm sorry to hear it man! I've been so happy with the X15 myself. I hope its not the problem. But your approach is a good one. I have been meaning to ask Dr. Lee if he plans on releasing an azaleic acid free 15% minox solution. I guess for you that may be ideal.

Will talk to him to see if that's a possibility and let you know.

I have hope that its not the a.a. because I have a very sensitive scalp too and the X15 isn't irritating for me at all. Good luck. Keep us posted.

yeah, I know what you are saying but part of me almost hopes that it is the azelaic acid because if not then it is the alcohol and what minoxidil doesnt have some alcohol in it? I mean I need some minox.. it has helped me for the last 3.5 years. So, my current hope is that it is the azelaic acid and that dr. Lee, releases a straight up 15% minox. But thanks for your prompt response man.

Well, I am pretty sure that it is the azelaic acid that is causing my irritation. I stopped it for a day and my scalp started to feel better but then the next day I thought I would apply it but it started to burn my head so I washed it out. My new approach is gonna be to apply minox 5% twice daily and then a really thin layer of X15 to my hair line and temples at night so that I don't lose the hair that really counts up front. Do you guys think that I am in for a serious shed and thinning out?
Also I have dropped Tricomin from my regimen. I am thinking more of keep my scalp healthy and keeping a more simple regimen that putting loads of crap on my head plus I don't think that the alcohol in Tricomin was very good for my scalp.
