Celexa and hair loss
I was on the antidepressant celexa and noticed rapid hair thinning and loss in a six month period (i had been on it for like a year up to that point) I have since stopped it because of other side effects and am wondering if anyone else has noted hair loss on this medication. I am stating to notice some regrowth now (two months after stopping Celexa) but I have been on Propecia for a week or so, as well. I don't thinks that Propecia works that fast, so do you guys think it really was the Celexa. If it is, will the hair grow back? Thanks for any info.

Hello Ira and welcome to Morphollica.com
I have been preoccupied with some matters that have kept me away from the forums lately. Apologies for the delay in responding to you.
Ira, hair loss is listed as one of the rare side-effects of Celexa. You probably experienced a telogen effluvium from the celexa. If this is the case the hair will probably grow back.
Unfortunately, at least in my own experience, depression can cause hair loss in and of itself. I have never taken any medications for depression, but I am aware of the fact that many of the medications for depression can cause hair loss.
Regards,
Sam
