bx3.4 helmet

Post by B51 »

Hi guys,
Sorry havent been here for a while. Well so far I can tell you that the helmet has sort of worked. Dio no i do not have ''that wacky baby hair stuff'' and no i am not a sales man. I am actually an intesive care nurse :) but i am not 100% satisfied. because obviously the hair on the 'not bald areas still thicker than new growth. I am only comfortable with few mm low cut as evrything appears even. As ollie said its a gamble. To be honest I am not sure wheter to recommend or not. If i hadnt bought the helmet i would have used the money to go for electrolysis and get completely bald.....but on th eother hand i thought if some one came up with the miracle cure i'd be fooked :? . I think the helmet has somewhat helped but it aint the miracle cure guys....trust me on that one if nothing else.

Just to let u all know...I went ahead and bought the helmet. Used it for the first time yesterday...if it works great....if it doesn't at least I tried my hardest to keep my hair...I can then go bald graciously after that.

Do you guys clean the inside of it with a tissue soaked in alcohol?

I purchased the helmet and have been using it for about a month now. I don't expect to see any results yet but I live in hope, thats all you can do.
After this treatment I don't really know what to do if it does not work. I have already payed 2500 pounds to use a laserlight version. I went to Advanced Hair Studios, you may have seen the adverts. It did seem to slow down my hairloss and I didn't notice so many hairs in the bath. My hairloss returned to normal though after I stopped the treatment. I think I may have grown about 5 hairs back with that treatment. 500 a hair doesnt seem much of a good deal though.
So I have spent over 3000 altogether, put myself in debt and still nothing. I just hope this will help because there don't seem much else.

Hi Andy..I havent quite spent as much money as you but I know how you feel.
If this helmet doesn't work I'll just get on with life. I'm sure not every woman in the world would turn us down simply because we don't have good hair. Thankfully they aren't quite as shallow as us in general terms.

I have used the helmet 3 times now. Next session on Thursday.
One thing which has pissed me off about the helmet is their before and after pics.
Certain pics show MIRACULOUS regrowth....yet the woman on the phone told me to expect 20% regrowth at best. Why should I only expect 20% regrowth when the guys on the pics have regrown much more. Could it be that those pictures aren't exactly honest???
Who knows.......watch this space

Sceptic Lady wrote:I very nearly bought one of these helmets a couple of months ago I even had an appointment booked with a trichologist but then I decided to listen to my intuition, which was telling me that this is nothing but a big scam. A big, NASTY scam at that, because it is aimed at a vulnerable audience.

Id seen the helmet featured on This Morning and was drawn in. Sounded like the miracle cure Ive been searching for. It also sounded a bit too good to be true but I initially thought it was worth taking a chance because (a) Id already invested lots of money on other hopeful solutions, sso why not try one more?; (b) I didnt think that a reputable show like This Morning would promote anything they hadnt properly investigated and tested; (c) the distributors were offering a money back guarantee. I didnt think I had anything to lose and I didnt want to dismiss something that might just be the thing that worked for me.

Well, I researched and researched on the internet, reading every item I could find. Still it looked promising, but only in that there wasn't enough negative information to put me off! Then I spoke with the UK distributors and bombarded them with a barrage of questions not addressed on either the manufacturers, nor the distributors web sites. Rather than allay any doubts or concerns, it actually fuelled them.

The distributors claim that they have sold thousands of helmets in the UK alone (so I guess theyve made a lot of money!). so I find it very hard to understand why there isnt a ton of reviews (positive or negative) available either on the internet, or in the media in general. Could it be that they just dont exist? I would think that anyone who had had real success in regaining hair would be shouting about their discovery from the rooftops! I know I would!! So, isnt it strange that theres nothing out there? Not a peep from all the thousands of people that have spent hundreds of pounds on the new miracle gadget? Strange but telling!

I particularly quizzed the distributor about the money back guarantee. Consider this you'll need a consultation with a qualified trichologist prior to start of BX3 treatment. Then there'll be the cost of the trichologist's report and photographs of your scalp, which have to be submitted to the distributor. Then, after six months of using the helmet, if you're not happy with the results and want to claim your money back, you'll need a second consultation/report/set of photos from the trichologist. You could end up paying out 300+ on top of the cost of the BX3. Even after all that, the qualifying criteria for getting a refund are very vague - at least they are here in the UK. I asked the distributor if they could be more specific as to what is regarded as successful hair growth, but they couldnt (wouldnt?) give me a satisfactory answer. I strongly suspect that if you show even signs of minimum baby-hair growth (which is cosmetically useless), then BX3 would use that to negate any claim for a refund.

With regard to those people whove started using the helmet recently and think they can see an improvement I wonder how much of this improvement is real, versus wishful thinking? Even if friends/family are saying they can see an improvement are they just trying to give you hope that its working, or are they REALLY seeing hair growth? It doesnt help matters if youve always kept your hair really short and have now let it grow (albeit a tiny bit) longer. It gives a false illusion of hair thickening/new growth.

Oh and as for the web site one of the things that rang alarm bells in my head was the dodgy certificates that are posted on it. Apart from not actually being of much value (in my opinion), they are of such incredibly poor quality (like photocopies of photocopies of photocopies) that they are somewhat illegible! Im sorry but what reputable company would want to sully their otherwise slick-looking web site with such crap??!!

Much as I'd love for the BX3 to be a real cure, I'm just not convinced it's anything more than a horrible scam. If this thing does prove to work, then I'm sure the hair loss clinics and dermatologists will catch on, and add it to their repertoire. I dont believe that they would be dismissing it because it interferes with their business. Surely if something works, then it works. By offering it as a service, they would surely extend their client list?

At the end of the day, you can make up your own mind though..

Out of curiousity, did you apply the topicals that they recommended as well? Are you using anything else?

BX3.4 helmet

My son has been using the helmet for 6 months with a view to retaining his hair. Cannot see any new growth and too early to say if his hair is still thinning,I am certain it has not thickened any. He has been using it 3 times a week and using the oils.Disappointment so far.

The instruction leaflet that came with the helmet advises to wash your hair after use to remove the oil and goes on to say there is NO benefit to leaving the oil on the scalp.

Yet page 17 of the User's Manual states, A preliminary study using essential oils alone demonstrated a ceasing of hair loss and in some case a growth of light down.

I have a trichologist appointment tonight and wiil see what she has to say before I make a decision, she does have some clients who are using the device so I will let you know if there is anything positive to report.
Is there anyone out there who has had their hair grow back after so long ?

i am 56 and my hair is growing back. I don't know how long i have been looseing it though. i have not tried the helment though.

Andy wrote:Lesley,
I don't think that if you don't have any hair at all, that the helmet will work. It is meant to restore thinning hair. I've been considering getting the helmet. It says on the website that if you have a shiny patch with no hairs that it won't work because the cells are already dead. Sorry to be the one to tell you that, but would not like to see you waste 750.
a shinny patch does not mean that no hair will grow on the spot.

He has been using the helmet and the essential oils only. He intends to carry on for a full twelve months until may 2005. He has been using the helmet at night and washing the oils out the following morning. To put the oils on for 30 minutes with the helmet and wash them off an expensive excercise 15ml of oils cost about 35. The cost of the helmet was 750, I don't know how this compares to the cost of other treaments.

My youngest son has used the essential oils only without using the helmet. He says after washing he noticed fewer hairs in the sink.

The helmet was bought before I discovered this forum and it was given an airing on Daytime TV in UK.

Just bought some Nizoral shampoo and Rivogen topical, will reduce the helmet treatment and introduce the later to use on days when not using the helmet.

I wrote on about 6 months ago. I have used the helmet and I am not really sure if it works very much. I am not thinning, yet, on the crown but receding at thetemples and at the front. I can say that my hair is not thicker at the temples. Whether it is slowing down the crown from going I don't know.
I stopped using the damn oils. I can't see what good they do and they are too expensive. I am now using Regaine agian. I certainly have less hairs in the bath after washing my hair. I counted them. :) :(
Regaine is at least proved to work against hairloss.
So far I am not very impressed with the helmet and I would just say think hard on whether to buy it or not.

Oh and you can get generic Regaine for 8 months supply for half the price of the stinky oils. Hope it might work. If not ..... :(

I will report back soon.

Good luck fellow hairloss sufferers. :)

I can now report on the Hair Helmet. My son and I have been using it for over 12 months. It does not regrow hair on any bald areas. My son has been using it to help retain his hair and it is hard to report anything positive. It may have stopped further loss, but does not create any regrowth that can be seen without an hair count. His hair does not look any thicker and was probably just holding its own or the helmet may have been slowing down the loss.

I cannot recomend it as the cure to hair loss. He is still going to use it on a maintenance basis ie. once a week without the expensive oils in case there are long term benefits.

He is now on Proscar 1.25mg and minox 5%

Results seem more positive. wish I had found this site sooner.

Hello nicam666, thanks for the update.

It really pains me when I hear of children that are suffering from hair loss. I truly hope that the treatments work. Have you thought about Revivogen perhaps, or another topical DHT-inhibitor?
