Shedding

Post by James »

At the moment I am going through the craziest and worse shed of my life. It has been going on for over a month now. My scalp doesn't feel so great and the hair is just everywhere. This seems to happen to me every few months. It sucks I hate it. Does this happen to anyone else?

Hey Blueshard,

Long time no speak!

I go through periods of pretty heavy sheds every few months as well. I'm amazed that at 30 years old, after about 11 years of losing my hair, I still have quite a bit of hair considering how much shedding I have gone through. I think the various hair loss regimens have helped over the years, even though I have had on and off periods of use.

Hang in there and don't give up. Your scalp not feeling well bothers me more than your shedding. What shampoos do you use? BTW, you still using Xandrox?

Regards (and good to hear from you)

Hey what is up Morphollica! Yeah I am still using Xandrox15, hairs are still popping up from it but it is a slow, slow process. My scalp is not in pain but it just doesnt feel right, I use Nizoral 1% as my main shampoo. I use it about 3 times per week. What I have been using sparingly is this shampoo called Capex that I got from my derm. It is a corticosteroid shampoo that seems to really help when I get any irritation although I would not reccommend using it often (just once in a while to help clear things up). Even though I have been shedding so much there is not a huge difference in the way my hair looks which I am grateful for. Thanks for the reply man. How about you? How is your hair doing? Are you still using the Xandrox15?

Blueshard, the Capex shampoo is something that I would use VERY sparingly if I were you. Corticosteroids can be helpful initially, but you are probably aware of the fact that prolonged use can cause potentially serious side-effects. I was using products containing them for my seb. derm. of the scalp, but over time I have managed to control irritation of the scalp without steroids.

I think the Revivogen shampoo has helped. I also think that my once weekly use of Tersaseptic shampoo has helped enormously. Its active ingredient can also be harmful, but I use it VERY sparingly and once a week as I mentioned. This has been enough. I have had virtually no irritation of the scalp since I started using it.

I am glad you're still using Xandrox 15. I am still using it as well, and like you I am having new regrowth regularly. Also like you, my regrown hair has been growing slowly. Their are tons of little hairs, some that have gone from vellous to terminal hair, but the majority of regrowth is still vellous. However, the areas of vellous regrowth are interesting in that there is a lot of vellous hairs side by side -- not just a few. Overall I would say my hair is in good shape. I am going to stick with the regimen because it seems to be working.
