I'm having a rough time.
I'm filled with anxiety over washing my hair. In fact I went three days without washing it this week. When it's wet it falls out when I comb it. I try to ignore it, but it's devastating. It's just awful. Sometimes thrity strands come out in one comb through! I throw them in the toliet or the sink and I can't believe how much I throw away after eacch wash. I don't dare count it all: it would be too saddening. At this point there is so little hair on my head. My heart breaks when I see so much of my hair falling out! Why is this shedding lasting so long?
Last year I wouldn't think twice about getting ready for work, but now it's become an event that is filled with dread and anxiety. My husband and I had plans with friends last night and I had to wash my hair, it had been three days since I washed it last. THe amount of hair that was on the shower floor and on my body was alarming. I wanted to cry. Although I don't have bald sports per se,my hair is thin and my scalp is clearly visible. My hair looks awful: thin, flat and wispy. My scalp is smooth and shiney. I look for new hairs to grow and I never see any.
If this indeed telegen efflluvium, then the shedding of my hair should occur because new hairs are pushing those one out. Where are the new hairs?
Still on the spironolactone regimine along with birth control. I'm nasueasted quite a bit from the spironolactone.
Also, I had blood work done again. My hemoglobin is now in the low range, and so is my hematocrit level.
I ask the doctor what this means. I take iron supplements everyday.
Thanks-
