Reservations about starting Propecia...

Hi guys, I would like to get some advice on whether I should start Propecia. From reading on the internet I've learned that like Minoxidil, Propecia is pretty much a life-long committment if you want to keep your hair. I don't really mind if the product works and there is no detriment to my body. However, I've read alot of people complain about its side-effects. A majority were lack of libido and impotence. Although the Propecia site states the possibility of these side-effect are minimal ( ~ 2% ), I'm afraid to take it just in case I am one of those unlucky 2%. Of course I can quit anytime and it will stop these side effects eventually, but I've also read that taking Propecia can make your hair even more susceptible to DHT. This means that it might even be possible that quitting Propecia would not only contribute to the loss of hair that you would've had anyways, but the hair loss could be worse than never taken Propecia in the first place. Am I being paranoid or has this thought come across to some of you? Thanks.

Hey Hans,

It all depends on what you're comfortable with. My own personal opinion is that the scientific results are what matters with Propecia. Yes there are some people who experience the side-effects. That's part of the risk. But I don't think there is any proof that your hair becomes more susceptible to DHT. If there is any documentation about such an effect I'd like to read it!

I think when people that have been taking it for a prolonged period and then they suddenly stop for whatever reason then those hairs that would've fallen out had they NOT been taking Propecia will shed relatively quickly. The hair loss will "catch up" to where they would have been if they had never taken Propecia.

You'll know for certain if you experience the documented side-effects.

As always, I think you should talk to a physician and get their advice before trying any treatment.

I agree with Sam. Any side effects you may receive with propecia will disappear eventually after you stop taking it. Whereas the possible benefits of taking propecia will stay as long as you continue to faithfully use the drug. Really this is the way any non-surgical solution for hair loss currently works so one way or another, to do something about hair loss you are going to have to try something out. If it helps, in my experience, propecia has done a wonderful job at curbing continued hair loss and grew back healthier hair in my crown area. I currently use propecia and the hairmax lasercomb and I am happy with the results I am getting. Hope my 2 cents helps hans

Have u tried natural remedy. I suggest that u try that first.

It depends what natural remedy you're speaking of. I think Revivogen is probably one of the best. But even then I would recommend that it gets used in conjunction with Propecia and Minoxidil. That's my opinion.

i have no comment on Revivogen. I am using a topical treatment. it is under the naturalis hair recovery treatment.

It has help me regrow hair on my receding temple. in my opinion that the best.
