Hair Cloning and Follicular Neogenesis

Hey Sam,

I'm gonna have to disagree with you on the timeframe for Hair Cloning that you predicted in your 'Editor's Corner' section. I think you're being way too conservative on this one. If they can get the different growth factors and the timings down for making new follicle cells, and if they can figure out how to get a 90%+ success rate with implanted follicles (plus deal with the cancer factor), then it's bound to eventually cure hair loss. All of these different things are being dealt with (at least from reading the Wired article on this and Dr. K.'s interview where he talks about this).

Just my opinion. Fingers crossed.

I think it will still take a long time. I'm not too excited about it because they said it's as complicated to do as grow a new limb. I think it will be a while before they do either grow hair in a test tube or a new limb.

Hi guys,

I am starting to think that trying to accurately predict when hair cloning will be a viable reality for the average consumer is a crap shoot. I think that it will be a long time before it completely replaces current hair transplant techniques.

I'll be the first person to get a transplant when hair cloning becomes availalbe. I hope it's soon.
