I'm a 20 year old student. I believe I've been losing hair since 17 years of age, though it wasn't very noticeable until I was 18. Perhaps this is because, I don't really have a bald patch, its loss of hair everywhere (diffuse thinning). Oddly, my hair line is intact, and I seem to have more hair follicles there as well.
All my uncles and grandparents are bald, save the rare one or two. My father has been balding since he was in his early 30's. It's a surprise to me that I've started this early.
My regimen so far:
Just improving diet, mild organic shampoos.
Thats about it, nothing fancy. Perhaps I was hoping that it was a case where it might reverse. My family doctor didn't really suggest any treatments. She basically asked the typical questions about stress and what not. I have not consulted a dermatologist specializing in hair loss. I will do so ASAP.
Today I received a shipment of 5% minoxidil, that I haven't opened yet. Partly because I'm a little afraid of its negative effects.
