Stemcelex
Gotta give a shout-out to Member17390 for posting this:
http://island-labs.com/
Not sure if the same folks are behind as were working on it a few years ago, but I spoke with some gentlemen over the phone several times a while back and I remember being impressed with their knowledge... definitely struck me as people that were serious about hairloss research.

Yeah, I was thinking about that...
I think you said that they told you that once, also?
Anywho... I'd be lying if I said I wasn't interested... probably shoot them an email and see what they have to say.

Good question, jksl... I couldn't find it, either.
I believe I recall they were incorporating some type of marine substance into it... maybe laminaria? Who knows... I could be wrong.

Yeah..it was laminaria for sure. That's what had me interested back then. I think it was the "correct" species used in that study or something.
All I remember about contacting them was they responded at first..then nothing. Like so many others..

That is true.
Saw this in their FAQs:
"Partial or general whitening of the re-grown hair or vitiligo in the area of new hair growth may be observed."
Not sure if I'm really in the mood for vitiligo...

As a local Canadian boy I feel I should take it upon myself to investigate this a little. I'll try to email them some questions as well or try to find a number to call as it is probably local. This Dr. Gupta they have a testimonial from is a legit faculty member at U of T though.
Chore I noticed the vitiligo as well. Also I am wary when I read the last FAQ about unwanted hair growth. Thier response is no unwanted hair growth because it effects hormonal function through DHT, thyroid and aldosterone hormones. I won't try anything that advertises that unless I am shown a list of all the active ingredients.

Canadians like to tell Newfie jokes (about people from Newfoundland). Not very nice or politically correct but nonetheless...
I see the area code is 709 which is Newfoundland, which I guess explains "island" labs. Never in a million years would I have imagined the cure for baldness coming from a place better known for cod fishing and the seal hunt....
For those interested: Robert Tulk robert.tulk@island-labs.com (709) 634-2724 I might try calling on Monday.

Re: Stemcelex
By the looks of the website it seems this product has been available for a good many years... I guess the race for a hair loss cure has been over for a long time (obvious sarcasm!)
Also I love how it says on the main page "No adverse side effects" surely you would think vitiligo would be classed as some sort of side effect!
A testimonial (most likely fake) states the following:
"I have been using Stemcelex for over 5 years. Now I have new hair growth over my entire scalp. Thank you Stemcelex it feels great!."
Wow so 5 years and we still have no pictures, no news coverage, no scientific evidence... Nadda! ZIP! Zilch!

Re: Stemcelex
Hey guys,
I haven't tried to call or even email any questions as I figure why bother on a weekend. I might try to get to it on Monday. However they have a site www.stemcelex.ca and stemcelex.com that are under construction. Conceivably could have everything we'd like to see in the way of photos etc. on the new site. I get the feeling they really haven't made their big launch yet. Then again, I could be totally wrong about that. It's just that if they are bringing in this big shot CEO to run things you'd think it would be done right.
With regards to the vitilago if you read the patent information they mention it and my take on it is that they are talking about hair only and that it is a transitory stage and that eventually the hair that has whitened darkens and even grey hair returns to original color. Still, I'd like to ask that question explicitly rather than draw inferences from something I've read.
I am impressed that they have got Health Canada approval which is more than just for assuring them that your product is made safely. But again, if I can't see some of their compelling trial results for myself (or at least great documentation thereof) I have to maintain a healthy skepticism until people we know here start seeing success with it. I'm all for the patient, wait and see approach on this one.

Re: Stemcelex
That link for the Medical News in no way indicates they are legit. The story there is exactly what we've seen already. It is just the same press release in another publication. That doesn't mean a whole lot. You can dig up press releases on line for most of the hair loss products we've seen here before.
Lets see if anyone hears back from them now that the work week has started.

Re: Stemcelex
FYI...I emailed this a.m. and have yet to get a response. Couldn't call from work and by the time I was out it was past quitting time in Newfoundland (they are EST plus 1 1/2 hours). I bet if someone is good with the BS (sadly I don't seem to be) and phoned posing as someone who wanted to resell their product they would get right back to them. Otherwise, given kamui's efforts and lack of a reply they don't seem too interested.

So 30 years in the making and this is the images we have... fantastic camera work! (sarcasm)

Re: Stemcelex
I would have thought that the all the time spent developing this product for release would have seen them come up with a more professional looking site with better photos and some statistical evidence like, for example, the stimucap stuff or crescina or something has. And this big shot CEO who is going to run them? I can't believe he'd get involved with something that appears so shoddy and unprofessional. So...either the new web site will have all the stuff we'd hope to see in a professional site of a legitimately effective product or...this really is just a lame and lazy attempt to grab cash with a bogus product. I'd wait to see before committing to this product.

originally the price was around $79.00 but they had a reseller link where the prices were WAAAAY lower. NOW they lowered the price by $12 but removed the reseller link..if they can sell a 1 month supply at around $45 for 1-3(months supply..at least i think that is what it was) for a resller that means they are making at least $23 per 1 month order for the rest of the “shlubs”. i guess that they discovered that little web error. but not soon enough. i might give this a try. what do i have to lose? $44?
but i’d have to give them a call..there’s no way i’d pay $67 for something that i could get for only $44 if i was a reseller!

Great sighting on the fake images... Honestly I'm not surprised by the fact that these images are stolen from another website and honestly I don't care for their excuses.
This is the reason why I take a tough stance on products and companies because they're all motivated by greed and are just another company looking to cash in on the multi million dollar cash cow, the sad thing is there are people that will actually fall for this sort of rubbish.
Let this be a lesson to you all... it doesn't matter who is associated with a product you must always be sceptical and logical in your research.
Honestly its at the point where we should just label all products as a scam and until they come in and prove themselves will they be considered otherwise.
Guilty until proven innocent!
There is a reason why hair transplants, propecia and minoxidil are the only proven products, all these other products that have appeared over time are all running the same hype campaign and have consistently failed to provide any sort of tangible proof to match their claims.

there is no way you can say these kind of things about e.g. A&G? Or about Scalpure, esspecially according to Steve! If you didnt try the product first, then you cannot say that.

Yep they have definitely lost a lot of credibility with that sorry attempt to fool us and the latest attempt is no better as I have been informed that these pictures are from their old website from 2007... so its 2010 and they still have nothing to show apart from these underwhelming pictures which are poor at best.

lol, furthermore, heres what the company guy had to say about it. 'quotes from regrowth.com.
to ROBER TULK, we are all sick of these games with before and after pictures, if u seriously expect any of us to take u seriously, you'd better explain urself a bit better than, 'u didn't know'. I can't believe people are still pulling this crap. are u an 18 year old marketer or something?, i don't understand how companies can really think we will not check the pictures to see if they match other ones.
Your NOT dealing with imbeciles here.

Well someone needs to call Robert Tulk an ask him why he posted fake pictures on his website today . Just go to applepoly.com/procyanidin-b-2/ and check those before and after pictures . They are the same pictures Stemcelex posted today and deferent pictures were posted this evening that looks like the pictures A&G posted early last year. I think Robert Tulk has some explaining to do .

hey folks, i did just speak to rober tulk, letting him kow what our concerns our. simply said that choosing that picture from applepoly was an error that he was not aware of and is now taken down .. i know it can sound fishy, but with the approval from cancada health and all the money spent on the product by the company, ai am still inclined to think the product could have merit, and im gonna try it anyway. robert said he would post here himself, he was reading these posts as we spoke.

to ROBER TULK, we are all sick of these games with before and after pictures, if u seriously expect any of us to take u seriously, you'd better explain urself a bit better than, 'u didn't know'. I can't believe people are still pulling this crap. are u an 18 year old marketer or something?, i don't understand how companies can really think we will not check the pictures to see if they match other ones.
Your NOT dealing with imbeciles here.
