Little blurb about Adenogen from Shiseido

I've been trying to see if any photos have been published yet from Shiseido. I haven't found any. The only more info I found out about their product is this little blurb.....

Shiseido Co. plans to begin sales of a hair growth tonic that contains adenosine, which is said to increase the genes that promote hair growth.

The new product, called Adenogen, was effective in stimulating hair growth in 94.1 percent of the people who took part in six months of clinical tests, company officials said.

I'm not real hopeful this will work. I found from another source that a bottle of the stuff will cost about $66 US dollars. When they launch this product, I'm sure we'll know within 5 or 6 months if it works or not.

Shiseido Develops Hair-growth Substance Adenosine

Tokyo (JCNN) - Leading Japanese cosmetic manufacturer Shiseido (TSE: 4911) announced December 1 that it has discovered a hair-growth property of adenosine, one of the in vivo substances that exist in the human body.

The company's research shows that adenosine directly affects hair papillae, a key in hair production; consequently, the output of FGF-7, a hair-growth factor, is increased.

Based on this discovery, Shiseido has developed an innovative hair-growth substance, Adenosine, and has received approval as an active ingredient for medicated cosmetics from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.

The company plans to launch Adenogen, a hair-growth product for male-pattern baldness, on March 21, 2005.

The product, which will retail for about 6,500 yen excluding consumption tax, is to hit store shelves in March, with Shiseido projecting annual sales of 6.5 billion yen.

Dr. Tajima will discuss Adenosines physiological effects via four different subtypes of adenosine receptors on the nervous system and peripheral tissues. It is believed that adenosine is an effective hair growth promoter on efficacy and safety. In his presentation, he will discuss how adenosine stimulates hair scalp growth.

The Advanced Technology Conference, to be held April 11 and 12, 2005, in Berlin, Germany, provides a forum for the latest information on new technologies and relevant applications.
