DermaWhey

Post by Joanne »

Anybody heard of this? It's a relatively new supplement from Life Extension. The main ingredient is something called "SkinGest™ PSOR purified whey protein fraction". Here's blurb on it:

There are few consistently effective options for the millions of men and women who suffer from certain skin problems.1 Recent studies suggest that nutraceutical skin care products containing a whey protein extract, when used alone or in combination with conventional medical treatments, provide significant relief for people suffering from mild to moderate skin inflammation. The effectiveness of whey extract appears to be related to the presence of growth factors, active peptides, and immunoglobulins that ease skin inflammation internally. This has led to a nutraceutical breakthrough in skin management called DermaWhey SkinGest PSOR™ with bioactive sweet whey extract (BSWE). Studies also show that regardless of the many factors that initiate or exacerbate skin agitation, DermaWhey SkinGest PSOR™ can be effective.

DermaWhey SkinGest PSOR™ is a proprietary, highly purified, non-GMO whey protein isolate. It is manufactured using a patented process that concentrates this BSWE extract at 60 times the amount found in whey.

DermaWhey SkinGest™ PSOR is a new generation of oral dietary supplements for natural skin care. The concentrated bioactives help support the skin’s natural immune response essential to maintaining the skin’s healthy integrity under assault from the pro-aging ravages of environmental and internal stressors.

I thought whey protein shakes were bad for your hair it could be the glutamine though

I was going to post about this stuff =c ..thought it'd be good for our scalps as well. Will probably be something I'll be adding for awhile.

intricate..I think whey is actually good for hair. Too much probably isn't a good idea though.

I'm going to give it a try. My 3-month supply's worth arrived today. Figure that's a fair trial period ... plus iHerb had a 20% off LEF products discount \:D/ (Not sure if that promo's still running). I'll post in a couple of weeks and report any effects/observations.

Just checked iHerb and it's a 25% discount -- not 20%. And the promotion is still running. Not sure how long tho.

Also, FWIW ... on the iHerb site it says 1 capsule/day, but on the bottle it says 1 capsule, 2x/day. So I guess I have 1 1/2 month supply, not 3 months. :?

Joanne..thanks for the heads up. It's currently the same price as LEF's..if you're a member...cheaper at LEF if you get 4..but then Iherb has the extra discount at checkout, so it's actually cheaper there :-s

I think the 25% off may be what they always have it discounted at. At least I don't see anything that says it's only good until such and such a date. You can see the discounts on other brands too when you shop around there.

And there's only 3 left! I'm going to wait a bit though..have to get a shopping list together one of these days first...

It looks like you're right about the LEF discount. I got an email from iHerb a couple of weeks ago, mentioning a discount on LEF products. Didn't really read it--just went by the email subject line--so maybe it was only a reminder that it's always cheaper on their site.

Anyway, fingers crossed for this stuff. It's not cheap, but not crazy expensive either and it seems to have a couple of good clinical studies behind it. We'll see.

I was able to get some of that GliSODin SkinNutrients daily formula very cheap..so will use that for now. Contains the SOD..also contains Krill Oil, Sea Buckthorn Berry Oil, Cacao Bean, & Hyaluronic Acid. Nice combo of things I take or did take....just wish it were cheaper.
