The Skin Revolution(RESTORE shampoo etc) Q&A and Discussion
A big welcome and thank you to Michael of The Skin Revolution who has agreed to join the forum and answer questions
For those who don't know, the mega-goodies shampoo- http://theskinrevolution.com/_restore.html was posted in another thread and caught some interest. I thought it was unique enough to warrant an attempt to see if he'd be interested in answering some questions here.
I guess I'll start out with- What is your background and how did you get started with the company.. and how did you go about choosing all the ingredients found in your shampoo and other hair products? I recognize many of the ingredients and see the hair and even hair loss connections, so it doesn't look like you used a dart board to pick them out. Kind of a dumb question but somebody's gotta ask about all those goodies..

Re: The Skin Revolution Q&A
I'm gonna throw in another quick question- If one stocks up on the stuff would it be a good idea to store the ones not being used in the refrigerator? What is the estimated shelf life otherwise?
Thanks
Thanks

It looks like an interesting product, but I'm a little unsure about some of the ingredients. It looks pretty pricey, too.

Re: The Skin Revolution Q&A
I bought one directly on their website, but not a single moment their talking about transport fees or asking for my mail adress... So I just pay the shampoo and I'm waitng for their feedbacks, therwise, I don't know how they while know where to send the product. Weird...

Re: The Skin Revolution Q&A
I just did a pretend order..for here in the USA... and it worked fine- you pay via paypal. If you're out of the States it may be different- I'm pretty sure they don't ship overseas yet. Not sure about Canada.
But Michael will hopefully be answering questions later tonight. There's been a hiccup in getting him registered and able to post here.
Welcome to HLF btw

Re: The Skin Revolution Q&A
Thank you Jacob.
I've been on hairlasstalk for a very long time, and on stopmbp (Finfighter forum) under de name of Ball Pattern Menless.
But I decided to quite all experimental treatments 7 months ago for different reasons, to try a more natural approach even if it is less powerfull.
I lost a lot of hair because of that decision, but I try to make my best to recover.
I was always checking hairlossfight as I find that forum honnest and sincere, and it is not poluted by a tons of topics. It is simple, clear, and I like it pretty much.
I was also very intrested by Capillogain which seems to be a very good product, even if there's some minox inside. Well it is in a very small quatity, so I decide to give it a shot.
I'm also conviced that a good shampoo can make the difference, and the Skin Revolution one is defenetly a must have IMO.
So I will try to give an honnest feedback on those products after my test.

Re: The Skin Revolution Q&A
Kojac..yeah those experimental treatments are tempting. I've always said- if ppl start seeing crazy results with something I may then try it. Otherwise I'd prefer to go as natural as possible, and for sure am not crazy about making my own topicals. I'm using Capillogain too..even with that other minox-like substance. Will probably switch to the one w/out when it becomes available.
Israelite..I'm liking it a lot. The closest thing I can compare it to is Lamas' Chinese Herbal one. This one smells/feels a bit more "potent"..I guess you could say. It's like you can tell it's loaded with a lot of goodies.
I guess another question for Michael would be- any plans for a scalp/hair topical? I noticed Liposomal Glutathione, Liposomal Phosphatidylcholine, Liposomal CoQ10, AC-11 (Uncaria Tomentosa Extract... Coconut Endosperm and a # of other things in the skin products that have been posted about for hair loss.
I just noticed what looks to be trial sizes of some of the products in this kit: http://theskinrevolution.com/_amuse_bouche.html

Re: The Skin Revolution Q&A
Thank you for inviting me Jacob, It is a pleasure to discuss a topic that affects so many people.
I am a Naturological Skin Therapist; I utilize the healing medicine of nature and translate it into effective skin and hair care.
The wellness and beauty industry is saturated with various claims and products, yet nothing represented my beliefs and needs. In 2009, I decided to start www.TheSkinRevolution.com.
I began by first understanding the physiology of the hair and skin. From this point I began to research ancient healing systems, such as traditional treatments used in oriental medicine and Ayurveda. It is important to understand and respect what came before, to appreciate where we are now and where we can be in the future.
I created a harmonious blend between the old world and the new world. An uncompromising formula that is natural, vegan and raw, using ingredients that are either Ecocert Approved, edible or produced naturally in the body.
The Restore shampoo is sulfate free and super nutritious. It stimulates blood flow to feed the follicles, while gently cleansing and introducing powerful botanicals for superior assimilation.
The Nourisher is an all purpose treatment that can be used as a leave in conditioner or a cream rinse. It contains no traditional chemical conditioner ingredients and sinks in deep like a gloss or scalp moisturizer. It replenishes rich nutritious oils and completes the medicinal experience between the two products.
I have also formulated a powdered shampoo and conditioner that contains only raw fruits, vegetables, herbs and botanicals. These powdered products can be combined with either Restore or Nourisher. Restore and Nourisher can also be combined to create a moisturizing foaming cleanser that may be more appropriate for dryer hair types. All the products are pH balanced and technically unscented, what you smell is the active ingredients, such as organic strawberries etc.
The Nutrient Veil is an all purpose treatment, it has the consistency of water and I use it as a nutritious splash, like a high-tech aloe treatment. It adds a dose of hydration wherever you apply it, whether it be your face or your scalp. Try using it to moisten and freshen up your hairstyle, or to soothe the scalp after sun exposure. It contains some of the fabulous ingredients Jacob has mentioned like AC-11 and coconut endosperm.
I always suggest storing products in the refrigerator to help retain their freshness, although it is not necessary. A good rule of thumb is to use any product within two years because it may lose potency over time.
If anyone has any questions regarding an order they have placed, please feel free to email me at michael@theskinrevolution.com. I will do my best to address concerns or questions you may be experiencing. Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday and we typically ship orders within two days.
We are in the process of completely remodeling the website and hope to offer international shipping soon. I apologize for any inconvenience. I have a lot of exciting new cutting edge products in the works, and look forward to sharing them with all of you!
I hope my response was helpful, and I welcome any further questions. I appreciate all the support and look forward to discussing health, wellness and beauty with you.

Thanks for the responses, Michael.
Are there any of your products(liposome-containing ones, maybe?) one should worry about having shipped in below-freezing temps?

Re: The Skin Revolution Q&A and Discussion
Kojac..are you normally able to buy cosmetics from the US to have shipped to you? Maybe there's rules/laws that differ between a company selling/shipping something to you and a private individual doing so
I used the Nourisher this morning as a hair gel(thanks to Michael for the suggestion) after shampoo'n- rubbed it into my scalp a bit as well. Worked great and I'd compare it to Lamas' Chinese herbal styling cream except this one is more suited for applying to the scalp as well as your hair, if that's what you're looking to do. This is something I've looked for to use in the mornings- smells great..doesn't show on the scalp...and conditions my hair/prevents fly-aways. A topical that's not really a topical but works as a topical w/out the annoyances of a topical. Hmmm...I should probably trademark that or something.

Yes Jacob, normaly, I sounldn't have any problem with cosmetics. The law is very stric with drugs but not cosmetics.
That's why I was a little surprised. Well Michael told me that tey have some details to fix for that, so I will wait.
It's not a big issue, but I'm not a man with a lot of patience

I noticed when placing a Swanson's order that it said it couldn't ship to P.O. Boxes with 2nd day or Next day air. So...Standard and Express they can. I never thought about getting a P.O. Box for supplement and topical-type orders. Good for the summer too- won't be sitting out in the heat for hours until it's retrieved from the mailbox.
So I think I've found my solution...whether the products would otherwise be "damaged" or not

Re: The Skin Revolution(RESTORE shampoo etc) Q&A and Discussion
I am meeting with a USPS representative tomorrow to hopefully work out a way to ship internationally. I am so thrilled to have you all experience it, and I apologize for any inconvenience. I would avoid any temperature extremes, I haven't frozen any of my products as a test before but I would recommend storing them in a cool dark place. I am working on some new fresh products that are intended to be frozen/refrigerated. I also plan to release a topical treatment in the near future that would contain liposomal technology and an array of powerful botanicals, I will update you all as I go and welcome any requests or ideas, to create a product that can truly reflect our needs. Thank you for all the support.

Re: The Skin Revolution(RESTORE shampoo etc) Q&A and Discussion
The serum is awesome I also ordered his new product, Lazzarus, which I don't think he has listed yet...once again a great ingreds list- absorbs extremely well. The Nutrient Veil- only thing I wish is that it was in a spray(maybe a mist-type) bottle. I probably should have ordered the cleanser as well...but I have a bunch of Giovanni to use up which I'm tempted to just give awayisraelite wrote:i just used the balm and facial serum and they are awesome! im hoping they devlop a eye cream( dark circles in the near future) im gonna try the shampoo tommorow.

Re: The Skin Revolution(RESTORE shampoo etc) Q&A and Discussion
So happy you guys are enjoying the products!
Israelite I do actually have an Eye cream coming out, the current name is Aurea...It was originally designed to be a healthy SPF, it has become my favorite multi-functional product (actually I love them all) haha. If anyone would like to purchase before they are officially released please email me at Michael@TheSkinRevolution.com.
Jacob, Originally the Nutrient Veil was going to be a mist, but being a company that is truely as healthy as possible, I decided to create it in a pump so that it would be less likely to be inhaled. I want to introduce ingredients for their intended purpose.
Kojak I am just as excited as you! I will email you as soon as possible. Sorry about the wait.

SkinRevolutionNY,
Is the shampoo designed for people with hairloss? I was looking over the ingredients list and most of them don't seem to be beneficial for people suffering from hairloss.

To John Yossarian..if I may...try a search for the various ingreds along with "alopecia" and/or "hair loss" etc. I see many that are beneficial Now if you're looking for "studies"..most probably do not have those. But this is a shampoo- wouldn't depend upon any for treating hair loss. Just another good addition to one's arsenal though.

On the requests/ideas...
The liposomal glutathione, coq10, AC-11 and coconut endosperm that you have in some of your skin products and that you probably already have planned for this topical..would be nice. SOD..Catalase and PQQ are some others that come to mind. Acetyl glutathione in place of "regular" glutathione..but probably not necessary.
Here's some info on Cococin and coconut endosperm and hair: http://www.hairlossfight.com/forums/vie ... 71&p=15695
Pine needle oil? This is taken internally:
Topically:
And that pollen extract: http://www.graminex.com/bulk-naxpaste.php

Pine needle oil? This is taken internally:
http://www.optimallyorganic.com/PineOil ... QAodPyr4wwIt has been highly successful in turning gray hair back to its natural color again when consumed daily and has even been successful in hair regrowth
Topically:
http://www.globalhealingcenter.com/natu ... /pine-oil/Pine oil may be useful with a variety of skin conditions due to its strong antiseptic capacities. This includes psoriasis, acne, boils, Athlete’s foot, eczema and itching. Applied topically, it can also be used for a remedy of the scalp, especially in cases of dryness and dandruff
And that pollen extract: http://www.graminex.com/bulk-naxpaste.php
"GLC analyses of the fat-soluble pollen extract
revealed that the major part (more than 60%) of
the fatty acid was in the free form (Table 1, Fig.
1). Bound fatty acids, which rather reflect the
compositional profile of pollen, were
characterized by a high content of α-linolenic
acid (18: 3n-3, α-LLA) (70%) followed by small
amounts of linoleic (18: 2n-6) and oleic acid
(181n-9) only. Palmitic acid (16:0) was the most
abundant saturated fatty acid."

Re: The Skin Revolution(RESTORE shampoo etc) Q&A and Discussion
Not during these cold dry winter days. I pump some in the palm of my hand..then dab my fingertips into it and rub it into my scalp- get plenty in the hair that way. The summer months it could be a different story, but by then I may be using either the topical he's working on or something else during the day.

Re: The Skin Revolution(RESTORE shampoo etc) Q&A and Discussion
I would massage a very small drop into palms and then apply throughout hair, to control how oily the hair gets. It depends on the weather, hair type and styling need that will dictate how you use the Nourisher. Some may like to apply through wet hair, others dry. If you find its to oily as a leave in, then I would apply as a hair/scalp mask that can be removed during a shower. Enjoy trying the many versatile ways of using Skin Revolution.

I've got some cologne that has Sandalwood in it
I'm now using the shampoo every morning...along with the conditioner product as a scalp rub/hair tamer.
Would love to see this in a topical- L-ergothioneine..if you can legally use it... http://entiabio.com/content/readMore1/i ... tive_id/40

Bay rum essential oil. I drooled over a shampoo years ago that contained it.

Re: The Skin Revolution(RESTORE shampoo etc) Q&A and Discussion
I tried the restore shampoo as well as the nourisher, they they are both very good. Smell, and scalp heath after application are awsome.
Thanks Jacob for the tip, and thank you Skin Revoltion for such great products. I'm really happy of this purchase.

Good to see you finally were able to get them. It will be interesting to see what he comes up with on the topical...KOJAK wrote:I tried the restore shampoo as well as the nourisher, they they are both very good. Smell, and scalp heath after application are awsome.

Re: The Skin Revolution(RESTORE shampoo etc) Q&A and Discussion
I mentioned that millet seed extract earlier...
BTW..used the Nourisher/conditioner as an actual conditioner. Didn't follow directions- used quite a bit instead of just a small amount..but it worked great. The efficacy of miliaceum (millet) oil in local application for the treatment of purulent wounds was studied for the first time. The oil is obtained from the waste products of millet processing. It was demonstrated in experiments on 55 rabbits with a model of a purulent wound that the studied preparation causes a marked anti-inflammatory effect, promotes rapid cleansing of the wounds from the pyonecrotic contents, and significantly activates the reparative processes. With the use of millet oil the term of wound healing reduced by 6-12 days on the average as compared to healing in treatment with buckthorn oil and Vishnevsky's ointment.

Jacob,
Do you think this product has helped at all? I'm thinking about using it, but it seems a little pricey for shampoo.

Re: The Skin Revolution(RESTORE shampoo etc) Q&A and Discussion
It's just so hard to tell when one is using a # of things, both internal and topical. I just love the crazy ingreds list..and it does smell and clean good- leaves me hair manageable as well. I'm still on the first bottle and I've been using it nearly every morning. Started out with just one pump a day(because of the price) but lately I've been using 2-3 as my hair has gotten a bit longer and I'm just wanting to make sure I'm getting enough goodies on my scalp.
Abe's Market at times has coupons that you can use towards the shampoo etc- or any other product they sell there. It's been awhile since they've put one out though.
