"I've now been using Capillogain tonic for a bit over two months and my verdict is: For me Capillogain does work at least a lot better than 5% Kirkland Minoxidil

I will try and update later on today with high resolution pictures of the regrowth I've experienced after being on Cap for a few months. The *only* change I've done to my regimen is that I have replaced my morning minox application with cap and it has given me significant visible regrowth in my temples after just a couple of months. I have enough cap in my fridge to last me until the end of this year so I'm very excited over what kind of results it can give in a year.

I've been fighting my hair loss since october 2011 and I have had pretty much zero regrowth in the border areas of my temples (I was almost a classic pattern NW5 when I began treatment) until I began using cap. The "new" hairs in my temples are pigmented but they're still so thin and short that they aren't visible at a distance. I'm of course hoping that time will change that.

Oh and I am applying Capillogain all over my NW5 -area but my temples are the only areas where I am noticing a change so far at least. I'd assume that cap is having a positive effect on the other areas as well but since I already had some hairs on the rest of my NW5 area when I began using cap it is a lot more difficult to monitor the progress there."

"I know it is a bold claim and one you shouldn't make lightly on hair loss forums but the fact is that I had seen virtually zero results in the border areas of my temples until recently. I'll post high-res pictures later on to support my claim. My results with Capillogain aren't quite as dramatic as marklc2004's but his hair loss hasn't been as bad as mine.
The areas I am talking about began balding 12 years ago and were slick bald already 8 years ago. So seeing regrowth in those areas is a big success for me.

Also, I take back some of what I said in that I can not actually claim that it works better than minoxidil because I still am using minoxidil in the evening. Before cap I used minox 2x per day, now just once. To actually be certain of it working better than plain generic minoxidil I would need to completely stop using Kirkland and switch to 2x Cap applications /day."

"As promised, here is my update with the pictures. The first picture shows a closeup of how my right temple looks today and where my hairline used to be before MPB. The second picture is of a bit larger area and the third shows what my right temple used to look like before Cap and the regrowth (I had been on the "standard" regimen for a long time on the third picture)

It's not (yet) a significant difference aesthetically but considering how fast they popped up after 14 months of almost zero response to treatment gives me hope for the future."

"I'm hoping it's higher % in the shampoo, since it only sits on the scalp for a few minutes. The tonic works better than minox, i have little blond hairs sprouting on my temples. But it makes my hair look crap. Would be awesome if i could replace it with the shampoo."

"Been using cap for three days. Initial reactions: it's murky brown, and has a funky herbal smell I don't find bothersome.
The first time using I got a headache that passed and hasn't returned with future applications, but putting it on feels good. It's got a long glass applicator that makes it easier to apply than minox. After the first application, my scalp itch disappeared in about a half hour, and hasn't been a problem since I've been using regularly. Anyone else notice that decrease in itch? It is a little greasy but personally I think it makes my hair look thicker. I'm begun applying twice daily. Updates to follow.

Israelite: I see you're a fan of this stuff but only use it on the hairline. Why not anywhere else? I'm looking to mostly maintain, maybe regrow a little. I hope this works."

"Just a quick question about the the infamous bad batch; was it completely useless? Because I used it for about a month and been using from a newer batch for well over a month now, so in total I've been on cap for over two months, and I believe I'm beginning to see some results. Small, almost invisible hairs are showing in the frontal hairline, and I have been very very thin in that area for years now but now it looks like small hairs are filling in. Also vellus hairs in the corners of my hairline seem to be getting longer.

So I'm guessing the bad batch may have been doing something after all, or am I mistaken?

And also, great customer service! Got my replacement bottles a few days ago."

"I am highly motivated and very optimistic. I wish I had taken some before pictures, but to be honest, I didn't expect much. I've been on minox for about 9 months and it haven't really done that much. Some thickening of the crown and peach fuzz in the corners of the hairline. But the peach fuzz now seems to be getting longer, so tomorrow I will take some photos and take new photos in july or august. Hopefully the progress will continue and there will be a noticeable cosmetic result, fingers crossed. If anything happens sooner, I will ofc post the pics here right away."

"I have been on the bad batch for over a month and then recieved a replacement for my purchase of two bottles. Im almost into 2 months and began Dut in June 12 and Spiro cream to which i feel did little as i dropped it when i began Cap. Dut did wonders given im 45 and in the last month i have had some great further thickening on the scalp so unsure if i can say its due to Cap however i "feel" it has done some improvement. Temples seem to improve very little on Dut n Spiro and now on Cap.

My hair is shaved to 1-2# and i use Dermatch and pass for no hair loss as commented by some one advised me they used fin to combat their hair losss. To this i can add that over a year ago i felt like i was painting my head and currently i hardly need Dermatch.

I have hope in this product but im sure it will work for some and not for others as hair loss seems a lottery, hence the no real cure.

On another note i remember reading Mens health in 1999 about hair loss and how in 15 years it will be cured and the author said my son will never have to suffer. Mmmmm
we have no come further since then in real terms of progress in the techincal world."

I heard of lipogain but its application might not be suitable for work. I use Rogaine foam because I can look presentable going to work after applying. Lipogain I hear makes your hair look greasy and gross and I need a day application which is why I use the foam."

There is a new comment on BBT. It is a little bit cryptic but I guess he had improvement on the hair line and hopes for added improvement on the crown. (?)

I wish more people would also comment at amazon. Some fortunately do so. But we also get comments at amazon by people who haven´t even bought Capillogain but feel the urge to tell the world that Capillogain contains Triaminodil and one therefore has to expect the typical Minox sides.

But just the opposite is true for Capillogain. Most of our customers don´t experience the typical Minox sides. Read the comments of "hungrylikethewolf" for example and many others.

the consistency of my bottles has varied. the last one was murky, the one i received recently is more clear and there appears to be dark brown / reddish substance floating around near bottom of bottle, so i gently shake to mix

Please take a look at the batch numbers of your bottles (Losnr. on the label). Your last one likely had a number with 05 at the end. We replaced those bottles with new ones for our customers but we may not have reached everyone. Use our contact form and ask for a replacement bottle in case you haven´t received one already.

This review is from: Capillogain® Tonic 100ml Anti-Hairloss System for men and women. Made in Germany (Misc.)

After finishing my first bottle, and half into the second, I decided to buy two more because i just love how quickly it absorbs and dries (10 minutes tops). I used to get side effects from rogain (puffy eyes, flaky scalp) and this stuff definitely gave me no issues or made my scalp look like it was painted white after drying (my biggest issue with rogain). Having done some extensive research on the ingredients of this product and other similar anti hair loss products, I feel like this one contains the more scientifically backed data to not only fight dht at the scalp level (instead of taking hormone altering products), but also simulate hair growth from multiple angles. I am seeing vellus hair grow into areas of the scalp that was shiny smooth as baby butt for years, and some of the existing baby hair are getting pigmented. I am very satisfied and can't wait to see what happens in the next 3-6 months, I will update this review when i see more improvement."

"the subject of your post is misleading, it does NOT contain minoxidil, i had severe scalp drying/peeling and always had dark circles when i was using rogaine liquid, sometime (though rarely) heart palpitations. The symptoms are gone using this stuff, i suspect since the rogain did not dry for a very long time it would soak into the pillow while sleeping and rub all over my face. The trimonodil might be similar to minoxidil in this thing but the concentration is low enough and dries in minutes."

"Just wanted to let people know my results with this product. First, I started losing my hair around 21yrs old. Now 29 yrs later I still have thin and balding hair. I started minoxil 1989. It did its job by growing a little hair and maintaining the hair I had. After a few years 5% came out. More and better growth. Wow,I was told in the next 5 years should be better treatments . Ok, now almost 50yrs old. Still have thin hair and a seeing its getting worse now. Age could be a factor along with no more respond with minox. I will only use topical stuff for hair. Nothing oral. For all you beginners start out with 2% minox as long as you can. Than move to 5%
. Now this new product called capillogain sounded interesting. I started it at middle of January. Almost done with 3rd bottle. Stop minox just using capillogain. Hair looks bad. I use it at night. No burning eyes like I read here. No shedding, exactly I haven't shed in a very long time. It somehow made my hair look like when I first starting minox. The thing that amazing me is I don't see hair falling out. More like hair broke off. No new growth that's noticeable. I see tiny little hair the ones that don't grow. I'm a fair believer in trying something and staying with in for more than 6 months. I don't believe hair can grow in 4 nor 6 weeks. It would take some time for a side affect such as growth. I have 4 bottles left and will keep trying this product. I will write back in a month. The whole reason if you can get off of using minox and not losing growth. Giving your hair something else and than go back to it it might work better again."

I guess the rapid heartbeat is only in his mind. Capillogain Tonic contains only 0.5% Triaminodil which is 10 times less than what he is used to.

Just started my 4th bottle and can only say that after 3 months I have seen slight regrowth along the hairline. Slight. The reason for the 3-stars is the mild regrowth and the fact that this has caused a rapid heart beat for me along with other minor sides. Rogaine foam in the 5 years I've used that have never caused issues with my heart just dark circles and bags. I will continue to use another 3 months unless side effects worsen (rapid heart beat happens periodically) or no additional results are noted."

"Hi guys. I wasn't quite sure which thread to post this on as I have been using both capillogain and minoxidil for the same amount of time and for the last 6 weeks or so Duta. But I can't see how duta can be having any noticeable effects yet.

I am 95% that I am seeing what I consider, considerable temple regrowth!

Luckily I did take photos on the 15th March. I am afraid they are not great because I didn't pull my hair right back from my temples but I do have a good crown shot, a fairly good right front shot and a general raised shot showing the general thinning on the front.

I have taken minox before and did get good results, but stopped after propecia caused all sort of male problems but the duta doesnt seem to be doing that, or at least to any really noticeable degree. I think I am one of the lucky ones where minox really does make a difference. At least for sometime at least

It was only when I was applying everything tonight that I really got a good look as I generally try to not look close up until a good period has passed. My wife says there is an obvious difference and so does someone else, so I will take some new photos tomorrow after washing my hair and you guys can be the judges."

Well this locker needs a lock on it or something. I probably put the stuff in a GREAT spot..you know one of those perfect hiding places where it'll stay cool and hidden but then you'll completely forget where it is.

New comments and photos by "Campbell22" on BTT (the last two comments below). He shows before and after photos. However, keep in mind that he uses his new replacement bottles for only a short time (I guess not more than 2 months).
Hard to tell if he has positive results but if I had to pick a status I would choose the new one. On photo 1 of the before photos it looks like his bald temple areas grow together behind the frontal island in the middle, the usual NW progression. However, on the new after photos his status looks better but maybe the photos fool me, it is hard to tell.
On photo 4 of the new photos I think I see some thin hairs in his temple despite the detrimental flash. I guess without the flash it would look more convincing.

Just to refresh I use Minox and capillogain from the beginning. Then started Duta about a month a go. I occasionally supplement with 1% Hydrocortisone despite there being no effidence of efficacy in MPB. When I have some free time over the summer I will add Certrizine solution to the mix.

Got the new bottle yesterday. Cool. I just about opened it last night but decided to wait until today. Then this morning I discovered something that has made me put off using this new bottle. Can you guess what it is? [-(

Exactly. I blame my relatives. It's the only reason it's hiding/missing in such a great spot.
Watch the hair of your relatives and you will find out who took it :)

Well actually...what happened is this morning, after seeing the newest bottle in a smaller box...I remembered the stuff came in these bigger boxes last time. Big enough to hold a small book in. Sooooooooo....went down to the basement storage where I have a bunch of books individually boxed up- they're sitting next to each other like they'd be on a bookshelf. Guess what I found in the midst of 'em all??

Now remind me..the next time I'm looking for it...the new bottle is BEHIND those books in the basement. May keep it in the fridge instead though. Wrap the taped up box in aluminum foil. :-k

I have been using Capillogain now for about 6 weeks. I have a question for syntheselabrat - I notice that tocopherol is on the ingredient label, but I have been reading about a study (I think done on a small number of people back in 2008 or so using TOCO 8 or TOCO Sorb ) about how Tocotrienols is the better vitamin E for hair loss - at least internally taken. This is just curiosity as I am sure you have scientific reasons for the topical tocopherol, but you have included so many other ingredients in the tonic that have some backround in some studies to help hairloss, that I was wondering why the reason not to use tocotrienol instead. Thanks - Rob

We have a new review at amazon, this time for the Shampoo.

" Finally!, May 8, 2013

This review is from: Capillogain® Anti-Hairloss Shampoo 150ml for men and women (Misc.)
A hair loss shampoo that actually works(and i've tried'em all)! I've been only using it about two months and i CANNOT believe the results!I have little black hairs popping out on my temples/vertex.The top of my head (crown) has been slick/smooth bald in the past ten years, now it feels like sandpaper from all the tiny little hairs coming up.I'm using 3 pumps, massage it on my scalp, and leaving it on approximately 5-8 minutes. My only gripe with the product is that i find it very expensive for the amount you get,oh well...To the manufacturer:Don't ever stop making this product or i'll track you down!"

Been using the tonic once a day for approaching 6 months now on the crown and it doesn't seem to be doing much for me. Toying with the idea of dropping it as maybe I'm just not responding to it

In areas where there is still some hair it is difficult to evaluate the effectiveness without the aid of trichoscopy.
However, there is always a possibility of a non-responder.

Hi tinytim, good to read you again.
I guess you can still use your bottle from nov 12.
The 03 batch was the second batch; it should be ok.

Some people complain about the changed order in the list of ingredients of Capillogain Tonic; they think the formula has changed.
The formula has not changed. Triaminodil is still at 0.5%.
For ingredients below 1% it is not necessery to stick to a strict descending order.

SYnthese,

how long does Capillogain stay in the body?

I recently started using Voltaren as a new topical in conjunction with Capillogain applications which i do believe has benefits. I'm currently applying voltaren emulgel (small amounts) in the AM, Capillogain at 5pm and then voltaren agin before bed. the reason i ask about the life cycle of Capillogain in the body is i do sometime's notice interactions between the two topicals. Days without Capillogain, i don't seem to notice any side effects.. same goes with days/months without Voltaren. what are your thoughts on the synergistic effects of both of these topicals and is there any concerns with using both?
