Unigen, Inc., a global leader in the discovery and development of patented clinically-tested plant-derived active ingredients to the dietary supplement, food, cosmetics, personal care and pharmaceutical industries announces the launch of Bakutrol™, a powerful triple-acting botanical skin care ingredient offering anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory and anti-scarring benefits.
Unigen’s Bakutrol is a natural botanical alternative, derived from the novel plant extract Psolarea corylifolia, and has been scientifically proven to visibly improve skin appearance. Bakutrol contains bakuchiol, a compound which has been shown to inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria and to inhibit the COX/LOX inflammatory pathways. In clinical studies, Bakutrol reduced both inflammatory and non-inflammatory acne lesions without the adverse side effects often found with harsh chemicals. Additionally, Bakutrol significantly reduces scarring or Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH), the dark spots left behind long after the acne lesion has healed. Unlike traditional acne treatments, only Bakutrol has been clinically proven to reduce PIH. It has been thoroughly safety tested by independent third party institutes and has shown no adverse side effects. Bakutrol is highly compatible in formulation with other acne care ingredients, such as salicylic acid, and can be used as an active agent in creams, lotions, gels, masks and other cosmetic products. Additionally, Bakutrol has multiple global patents pending.

"Hey Pete:

I know that PTO combined with Tea tree oil in a shampoo is a pretty good combo.
I have a feeling we are close to seeing a VERY effective topical coming to market in the next year or so - things will start to get interesting
Thanks
Pete

Therefore, ideally, a product that
either down-regulates the formation
of 5-α-reductase synthesis or is an
inhibitor of 5-α-reductase activity
could be an effective solution. The
described studied shows that bakuchiol
is effective in down-regulating the formation
of 5-α-reductase. At 10 μg/mL,
both bakuchiol and retinoic acid
showed approximately 40% reductions
in 5-α-reductase expression, compared
with the placebo (see Figure 2 on
Page 504).
The described study
demonstrates that bakuchiol exhibits
excellent P. acnes inhibitory activity,
and it is very effective in inhibiting
other microorganisms such as Staphylococcus
and Candida. The minimum
inhibitory concentrations (MIC, in μg/
mL) of bakuchiol were 1 μg/mL for
Staphylococcus aureus, 2 μg/mL for
S. epidermidis and 1.5 μg/mL for Candida
albicans. Further, while salicylic
acid is a poor inhibitor of P. acnes, at
certain concentrations, bakuchiol in
combination with salicylic acid was
found to be synergistic in inhibiting
P. acnes (see Table 1). In comparison,
a recent clinical study showed that
retinoids such as retinoic acid and
retinol did not exhibit any antibacterial
activity, whereas retinaldehyde was an
effective inhibitor of Staphylococcus and
Candida.
See also "Table 2. Antioxidant profile of bakuchiol"..interesting

I ended up ordering some of this..and love it. Sebum is reduced all day...some "inflammatory" areas I have are cooling down...breakouts are down and any I've gotten heal/go away faster.
And I'm sure now that I've said that the stuff will stop working for me
