Fullerene nanomaterials potentiate hair growth

To determine if the fullerene could induce hair growth
from human skin, we incubated human skin sections in
medium with or without fullerenes. As seen in Figure 5,
there was a significant increase in the number of hairs
visualized in the skin sections incubated for 14 days with
fullerenes as compared with those sections incubated in
medium alone. Thus, fullerene derivatives stimulate hair
growth in human skin.

TY 8)

This particular one isn't too new..but the whole article/study I don't think was posted before. I remember years ago posting about fullerenes in skin care products. Can't seem to find any in hair products though.

How has this not been researched/discussed further?
Most of the PDF describes the process of INJECTIONS in MICE .... but some of it has actually been tested as a topical (not injected) in humans.

This part of the 'conclusion' talks about Fin and Min first and how they both do NOT create new follicles (as we all know) and then goes on saying that the study shows that Fullerene nanos actually DO create new follicles:
In animal studies, minoxidil shortens telogen, causing premature entry of resting hair follicles into anagen, and causes prolongation of anagen, thus increasing hair follicle size.10 Finasteride is an anti-androgen that inhibits human type 2 5α-reductase and decreases the formation of dihydrotestosterone from testosterone. However, neither minoxidil nor finasteride seems to have any significant effect on hair follicle numbers in hairless mice and human scalp tissue.

In contrast, we have discovered a new way in which hair follicles can be induced de novo. As seen above, the fullerene derivatives described here significantly increase the number of hair follicles in the skin.
Which is pretty crazy ? no ? am I the only one who thinks this is weirdly awesome ?

Yeah..I've always thought it was interesting. I guess you have to take them at their word though..you'd think a topical would have come out of it, although they seem to still be working on it. This is the place that's behind that study/info page in the first thread..that you quoted from: http://www.lunananoworks.com/markets/hair-growth.htm

A few other hair products besides the one I linked to above: http://translate.google.com/translate?s ... in&act=url They all use the Fullerenes from that Japanese company- vc60.com
