So RENEUVE claims to reset or slow down the aging process? Is this a scam or is there truth involved here?

well despite the ridiculous price, (we use it in our labs for pcr reactions, and electrophoresis) and i dont think its that expensive, but ill try and find out) the problem is the huge difference between our bodies being able to keep making it at a high level to be able to keep the chromosomes their correct size, and ingesting it, is that noone really knows whether our bodies will use it, that is take it from our stomach and somehow get it into all of our cells.

theres no doubt ppl and animals tested with high telemorase dont age as much, but theres also evidence that if u go artificially adding more ,(by injection? idk) u r risking cancer and aging disorders.

i think we should avoid it until more research is done, just my opinoin.

from wiki.

The enzyme telomerase allows for replacement of short bits of DNA known as a telomere, which are otherwise lost when a cell divides via mitosis.

In normal circumstances, without the presence of telomerase, if a cell divides recursively, at some point all the progeny will reach their Hayflick limit. With the presence of telomerase, each dividing cell can replace the lost bit of DNA, and any single cell can then divide unbounded. While this unbounded growth property has excited many researchers, caution is warranted in exploiting this property, as exactly this same unbounded growth is a crucial step in enabling cancerous growth.

Embryonic stem cells express telomerase, which allows them to divide repeatedly and form the individual. In adults, telomerase is highly expressed in cells that need to divide regularly (e.g., in the immune system), whereas most somatic cells express it only at very low levels in a cell-cycle dependent manner.[citation needed]

A variety of premature aging syndromes are associated with short telomeres.[7] These include Werner syndrome, Ataxia telangiectasia, Bloom syndrome, Fanconi anemia, Nijmegen breakage syndrome, and ataxia telangiectasia-like disorder. The genes that have been mutated in these diseases all have roles in the repair of DNA damage, and their precise roles in maintaining telomere length are an active area of investigation. While it is currently unknown to what extent telomere erosion contributes to the normal aging process, maintenance of DNA in general and telomeric DNA specifically, have emerged as major players. Dr. Michael Fossel has suggested in an interview that telomerase therapies may be used not only to combat cancer but also to actually get around human aging and extend lifespan significantly. He believes human trials of telomerase-based therapies for extending lifespan will occur within the next 10 years. This timeline is significant because it coincides with the retirement of Baby Boomers in the United States and Europe.[citation needed]

Some experiments have raised questions on whether telomerase can be used as an anti-aging therapy, namely, the fact mice with elevated levels of telomerase have higher cancer incidence and hence do not live longer. In addition, although certain premature aging syndromes have been associated with telomere shortening, mice without active telomerase do not appear to suffer from premature aging. Telomerase also favors tumorogenesis, leading to questions about its potential as an anti-aging therapy.[8] On the other hand, one study showed that activating telomerase in cancer-resistant mice by overexpressing its catalytic subunit extended lifespan.[9] The potential remains for telomerase activators to contribute to the development of cancer.

From what I read on the website, this stuff is a $250 shot of grain alcohol you're supposed to do twice a year, and potentially supplement with the Phase-5 product (also $250). Plus, potential to cause cancer? I agree with Anxious1, much more research is needed.

looks like a scam to me. look at the pictures here: http://reneuve.com/page5.html
According to those pictures, that guy is 50 years old in 2009.

But, if you look at the pictures in chore's link, you see the same guy who is apparently 49 years old in 2006. Look for yourself: http://www.curebum.com/reneuve-telomerase-enzyme/

Makes no fukcing sense.

I bet the "before" picture is really the after picture, while the "after" picture is really the before picture.

I'd imagine that injected telomerase and the associated cancer risk is similar to injected test and the risk that comes with that...they're not your body's particular telomerase or test. You're introducing a foreign version of that agent into your body.

Now, if you could extract some telomerase from an individual's body, clone up a bunch of it, then inject it into them, I'd be curious if the cancer risk would disappear altogether.
