Kerastase Biotic and healthy scalp micro- flora

Post by Jacob » Tue May 26, 2009 3:26 pm

This is another line I'm interested in. Cheapest I've seen is at Ebay..although it's mainly the shampoo one can get there. This is the other I'm interested in: http://www.folica.com/Kerastase_Bioti_t5217_1.html

http://www.kerastase.co.uk/_en/_gb/Cons ... /index.htm

Biotechnology is a science focused on the active properties of micro-organisms and vegetable cells and through L’Oréal Advanced Research, Kérastase Paris has extracted an even purer, more concentrated and active form of Probiotics: Bioflorine
A lot more info in the link above. I can't figure out how to copy/paste from that site though.

There's a bunch of other probiotic type products out there..may post them here later.

Probiotic shampoo: http://www.purezing.com/body/body_hair_ ... ampoo.html

Yogurt shampoo etc: http://www.davines.com/home.html

This is for acne etc..nothing specifically for the scalp: http://www.probiotic-lab.com

Many other skincare lines using probiotics out there. Any other scalp/hair specific ones?

The Aminexil treatment I got is from Kerastase too, If I like it maybe I'll try this. I did also get some of that Elsom shampoo which looks awesome.

I always keep that Elsom shampoo in my rotation.

I had contacted that probiotic-lab.com place about a scalp product..and the response I got is that there should be one out in 4-6 months.

For anyone interested in this...each tube will easily last for 5 applications, if you have short hair like me. The tubes have twist-off caps..so they're not resealable. But I'm just going to put them in a Ziploc bag.

I'm actually using this again..consistently..after digging it out of it's hiding place. I'll have to see if I buy any more again though.. :-s

Here's a probiotic cleanser: http://www.cliniquemedical.com/prof_pro ... anser.html

If it can actually help when used in a cleanser....

Im interested in a topical probiotic shampoo, but am curious, if probiotics mattered that much, why wouldnt our hair be falling out from the sides and back also? our hair in the mpb pattern is sensitive to androgens, but ... where do probiotics come into play?

How do probiotics survive in shampoo/soap? Are they dead, but still provide benefits anyway?
Could I add kefir to shampoo, or would that not work?

iluvhair..it's just another angle...another piece of the puzzle, possibly. Anything we use one could wonder why the back and sides..why don't those who have full heads of hair have this problem..etc.

j872..my understanding is they're freeze-dried..and remain dormant until "activated"..with water, I guess..or the intestinal environment when taken orally. Kind of like those Sea Monkeys we so enjoyed in our youth  Shampoo..which is already liquid..I dunno. I guess it's like yogurt, only what's used is self stable.

Jacob, I used the kerastase concentre biotic as well as the shampoo. The shampoo I found fantastic, really sooth my scalp but the concentre, I used only one box. I am not sure it did anything to my scalp though.

But the shampoo reduced my hair loss after continued use. I should get back to this shampoo in my rotation I think. The bain age recharge also is very good. It helps with tight scalp, it really help loosen the scalp after continued use.

That's good to hear. Maybe the "topical"/concentrate helped as well? But yeah..the shampoo is soothing. That's how the topical works for me, too. I have quite short hair so am able to use one vial or ampule 5+ times.

Yes the concentrate has a very cooling feeling on the scalp, very fresh and nice and you feel something is happening at the scalp level.

But there is a parallel version of this concentrate which is cheaper in the Philip Kingsley scalp mask which retail for 4 pounds sterling a tube of 30ml. I tried that and it's very good, same cooling, fresh and soothing sensation and with regular use it really makes the scalp better.

The problem is that after I use a treatment, I get tired and I just switch so I don't get to see the cumulative effect of the treatment.

Philip Kingsley has a no nonsense approach to treating hair and scalp problems which makes his products very effective.

I have a feeling that PTO and biotic line as a combo would do well.
