stan21's story

Post by stan21 » Sat Aug 16, 2008 12:46 pm

Hi there,

I have been losing my hair for about a year now mostly up in the front hair line. I also notice a lot of hair falling out. I read somewhere that losing 100 hairs a day is normal, but I have never experienced this until I started to notice the thinning in my front hair line.

I tried using rogaine for about 2 months but didn't see any hair growth. I'm not sure if I should try anything else.

I need some opinions on treatments. I saw some people on here have some regimens that use different things but I don't know where to begin.

I'm 21 years old.

Please help, I'm too young for this!

Hey Stan..welcome to the forum :!:

Two months isn't much time to see if ANYthing is really helping, imo. I have what I use listed in my "story" section, but I'd suggest you look into/research them and a bunch of other stuff out there before jumping on any bandwagon. The laser thing I think most would agree would be something to look into...as it's basically a one-time purchase and can't do any harm(I don't think) if used properly. I have yet to use such a device myself though.

Hi stan,

You definitely have to give a treatment you are using more than a few months to see if it is working for you.

Even a hair transplant, which takes your own hair and moves it from the back and sides of your scalp to balding areas, takes about 4 months to begin to show a cosmetically significant result. And that's from healthy hair. Imagine how long it will take for hairs that have become miniaturized to reverse course and grow back... It usually takes about a year to make any real determination. And you should take pictures regularly over time to keep track of your progress and make a better assessment over time.

Treating hair loss is a bit of a waiting game. It takes patience, determination to stick with your regimen, and motivation. To get the motivation you need to see results, which is where the pictures come in.

Check out the following page (still in development, but has a lot of useful info) to get a good overall understanding of hair loss:

Sam

Thanks Jacob and Sam!

There are so many different products, it's mind-boggling. So much research I have to do......

By the way, what about Lipoxidil? I see some posts on them in these forums, but are they legit and do you use any of their products?

Lipoxidil..their products are legit- what's left of them. I've used a # of them over the years- the non-minox ones.
Sinere is another company with products using lipo/nanosomal tech. Maybe they're even Lipoxidil with a new name :-s

Thanks Jacob. I'm now going to spend some time planning out a new regimen for myself. Will keep you posted. Really appreciate your help!
