Histame- clinically shown to regulate histamine levels in the body that cause food intolerance.

This may be something I'll be trying out :-s I've suffered from IBS and IBS-like system for years, although I pretty much have had things under control.

Countless numbers of people suffer from food sensitivity and intolerance - often without being aware of it. Effects can range from common digestive system problems including abdominal pain and spasms, diarrhea, constipation, and flatulence, to headaches, to skin rash and eczema - all due to the body's inability to thoroughly digest food caused by the lack of proper amounts of certain enzymes.

Many food intolerances are confused with food allergies and are caused by elevated levels of histamine in food. These elevated histamine levels can make eating foods, such as pizza, fish, wine, beer, and many other foods a miserable experience. Until now, one of the only options was to avoid these histamine-containing foods.

Histame is the first product worldwide that decreases histamine levels that cause food intolerance by replenishing the body's digestive enzyme Diamine Oxidase (DAO).* This clinically shown dietary supplement regulates histamine levels in the body, unlike antihistamines, which only block the histamine.*
Food intolerance versus food allergy

It is important to recognize the difference between food intolerance and food allergy. Non-allergenic histamine food intolerance is mostly brought on by foods not processed properly in the intestinal tract.

Food intolerance is a digestive system response to the inability to digest particular ingredients in food that does not involve the immune system. In contrast, a food allergy is an abnormal response to food triggered by the body’s immune system.

Reactions to histamine found in foods are not food allergies, though the symptoms can look and feel the same. Furthermore, the severity of the food intolerance symptoms is dependent on the ingested amounts of histamine-rich food.

* IMPORTANT: Allergic reactions can cause serious illness and, in some cases, death. If you have a food allergy, it is extremely important that you work with your health care provider to find out what food(s) cause your allergic reactions.

Histamine

A biogenic component often found is processed foods, histamine is an amine (nitrogen) derived from the decarboxylation of the amino acid histidine. In the digestive tract (GI), Diamine Oxidase (DAO) breaks down histamine.* Histamine can mimic the discomforts commonly caused by immune system-based food allergies.
Other common types of food intolerance

* Food poisoning
* Lactose intolerance
* Gluten and nut intolerance
* Carbohydrate intolerance

Some more info on a similar product: http://www.sciotec.com/download/daocur_allg_e.pdf
Despite of the huge variety of modern diagnostic-methods millions of people suffer from disorders, which could not be explained for a long time: gastrointestinal prob-lems, circulation problems, migraine, asthma, skin diseases as well as other allergy-related symptoms. In most cases the reason is a malfunction of histamine-catablolism in the body. Diamine oxidase (DAO), the enzyme mainly responsible fir the degradation of ingested histamine, is either under-expressed or inhibited. Hista-min-intolerance (HIT) is, as well as lactose-intolerance, a food-incompatibility. Es-pecially people with gastrointestinal disorders are affected. The symptoms of HIT develop slowly: Most of the affected people feel the first disorders in the early adult-age. This slowl development complicates diagnosis, because lots of the patients get used to the symptoms.
They even have a topical: http://www.sciotec.com/eng/calmalind.shtml

From the little I've read on these...they've been available overseas for some time. Now available in the US- the Histame at least. See http://www.reuters.com/article/pressRel ... BW20090312

Solution for natural histamine management

Natural defense against dietary histamine

Features diamine oxidase (DAO), the enzyme responsible for breaking down histamine

If you're one of the many who think histamine is something only related to colds or environmental allergies, think again. Many common foods actually contain histamine and/or trigger the release of histamine within the gut. The body's natural defense against dietary histamine is an enzyme called diamine oxidase (DAO). If we take in or produce more histamine than our gut has DAO to break down, reactions can occur. Now, there's help. DAOSin™ Diamine Oxidase is the only DAO ingredient in the world approved for dietary consumption and it's been helping Europeans manage dietary histamine for years. Swanson is proud to be the first company to make this groundbreaking natural product available in America at an affordable price. If you love cheese, wine, beer or bananas but they don't love you, try DAOSin and enjoy the comfort that comes with maintaining adequate levels of diamine oxidase.
