Power source help: wiring AC / positive negative

Post by denhaag » Sun Nov 22, 2009 4:34 pm

Hello,

I wanted to ask some questions about the labels on this power source I'm using. I purchased a 15 amp transformer from Aixiz. I'm also using OMG's tutorials.

Per the attached photo, is this correct?

From the wall socket to power source: Black wire goes to "L" nut, White wire goes to "N" nut (Reverse of how the wires are lying in pic). Green wire is ground and not used.

From power source to laser: "-V" gets a black wire, and "+V" gets the red wire.

Is that correct??

Thanks in advance.

Yes, thats correct.

For AC -> Black goes to L, White goes to N
For DC -> Black goes to V-, Red goes to V+

If you want to keep the supply from floating, and you have a 3 prong AC plug into the wall, you can put green into the ground, and short the V- to ground also. But that's up to you.

You're welcome.

However, as a total cover my butt disclaimer...thats based on the US Standards for wiring AC power. Just FYI :)
