hair loss treatment

Post by raasclart » Thu Mar 16, 2006 2:43 pm

only 23 and been loosing my hair (MPB) for around 3 years and its getting pretty bad now. i tried propecia and regain (extra strength) for three months each seperately last year and did not notice any hair re-growth. I have also contacted Belgravia hair loss clinic and am waiting on a diagnosis but have read elsewhere that Belgravia is a waste of time.
Would be very grateful of any advice on products i.e. which ones are a waste of time, also does anyone know anything a bout a cream containing high levels of minoxidil called AA?

Hey there and welcome to the forums. Three months for any treatment is not long enough to see results. Six months to a year is a better time period. Another thing is that Propecia and minoxidil are better at helping you maintain your hair than regrowing it. These two medications, especially when used together, can successfully stop your hair loss. I would recommend getting back on Propecia and trying it for a longer period of time. Take pictures of you hair so that you can see if you have seen any improvement. Even if you do not see improvement you still may have stopped your hair loss.
I do not know of a cream called AA, but I do know that at http://www.minoxidil.com there is a 12.5% minoxidil in cream form that contains azelaic acid which many abbreviate with "AA." Azelaic acid is believed by some to block dht. Dht is one of the causes of male pattern baldness.

I wouldn't waste time and money on the hair loss clinic. The treatments you tried are the gold standard for treating MPB.

I agree with James that 3 months isn't long enough to see results. I used minoxidil 5% for 7 months before I saw results. The results were not as impressive as I had hoped for, but I could see that it does work for me in the vertex area.

Hey wait a second... the belgravia centre are really good. They have helped me to really thicken up my hair. I'm not too sure about the minoxidil 12.5% because I haven't tried it yet although I am thinking of giving it a go. I'd recommend Belgravia Centre.

Anyone else got any opinions on minoxidil 12.5%? Do you think minoxidil 5% and 12.5% as well as Propecia would be more beneficial than without the 12.5%? I'm looking for an extra boost (already on 5% and Propecia)

Well I went down there about 7 months ago without any knowledge about treatment. They advised I use Minoxidil 5% + MPG and Propecia, as well as check-ups with one of their doctors.

I've had two check-ups and 3 of what they call photo-scans. One before my hair loss began and then one at each check-up. The results have been quite good - thickened up my hair but it's not quite back to its original thickness.

They have another treatment called minoxidil 12.5% + AA which I'm thinking of using to extend my results (as you can see above). I have also started to use their supplement hair vitalics.

I've been using the Minoxidil 12.5% for over a month now and it's going well. I've actually had a bit of extra shedding but I know that minoxidil does this at the early stages and I'm actually quite happy as I've heard this is a good sign and means I am reacting to the medication.

There has been further re-growth since my last post but I'm not quite there. I'm hoping the 12.5% will be 'the icing on the cake' and hopefully get my hair back to how it used to be - you never know!

Anyway, fingers crossed. I'll keep you informed.

I wish you luck with it.Unfortunately it will only maintain it for as long as it can before the MPB will take over.Wish you all the best.

If anyone wishes to know more about the Belgravia Centre, more info can be found in this discussion thread.

http://www.hairlossfight.com/forums/vie ... via#p13164

I also have a personal blog in which I've detailed my negative experience of Belgravia to alert fellow hair loss sufferers. I believe this is an important read for anyone considering treatment with this so-called hair loss clinic. Hopefully this will help potential customers make a well-informed decision, and avoid being ripped off by those that prey upon the vulnerabilities of people devastated by hair loss.

mpb is inevitable...even those who have nice long hair are do facing problem of hair fall..but they are not quite noticeable like the ones who have problems with it and the treatment is also not completely insured. The physical nature of every body is different so a mandatory solution could not be arbitrated.

I haven't use colloidal silver for me yet, but i used it for my daughters hair. She has hair like I did when I was younger. It got greasy within one day and the dandruff was awful. But when I used the colloidal silver in her hair, there was no dandruff and it actually stayed soft. Now hairs are also not getting greasy atleast for 2-3 days. Its the only thing that has kept her hair free of dandruff. Thanks to colloidal silver...

the only thing about the belgravia is the cost you can buy minoxidil+progestorone any strength from hair medics online and other online sites and you do not pay cosultation fees.
Also Dr Alan Robinson in uk sells minox +antiandrogen which is quite cheap and i found him very good. :-"

Hi I'm new.

I've just been quoted £1036 by the Belgravia centre - surely the drugs don't cost that much?! From what I read on the forum, it looks like you either get a transplant or you lump it & lose your hair.

Are we all kidding ourselves that we can stop MPB? I look ok bald, I'm just jealous of men with loads of hair - fundamentally I think I'm just annoyed that I can't control everything. No one likes to be told that they can't have something.

2 of my friends also suffer with MPB, & I've asked them about transplants. Their replies were, "you'll look like a cock", and "why are you so bothered about it?"

Well, i can advice you to scalp your hair with your fingers using a coconut oil. This is the best remedy known till today. A mixture of the same quantity of fresh amla juice as well as lime juice, used as a shampoo also boosts hair growth and prevents loss of hair.

Hey thanks james for sharing such a wonderful information regarding hair loss. Even i am going through the same problem and found your advice very helpful though. I can advice peoples to scalp their hair with Coconut oil at least thrice a week. This can really do wonders for your hair health.

I am currently not suffering anymore hair loss or receding and the itching has stopped. Wish i would've started this a couple of years earlier when the hair loss begun but didn't start right away because of all the horror stories I read. I haven't experienced any sides except for minor ball ache after i upped the dose to 2.5mg of fin..but that went away after a couple weeks. I'm still kind of worried for the future but hope my hair loss has been completely halted for a few more years and hopefully some more regrowth can occur. My treatment is Propecia.

I have been following the same regimen for over a year and a half and it seems to be working very well. Here is the regimen:

Scalp massage 2-3 times a day for 10 minutes - I believe this relaxes and opens the pores on your scalp for "easier" hair growth
Multi-Vitamins - for obvious reasons
Hair Fuel ZX42 Topical Solution - switched to this from Rogaine, mainly because of the low minox content of ZX42. I would never use 12 percent minox
Saw Palmetto - a healthy prostate is good for hair growth!
Regimen
Scalp massage 2-3 times a day for 10 minutes
Multi-Vitamins
Hair Fuel ZX42 Topical Solution
Saw Palmetto

How To Prevent Hair Loss follow these :
1. Simple maintenance:Maintain healthy hair no means of providing excessive care on the head. Naturally, the scalp was actually already set their own work in order to stay balanced. If the balance is disturbed, the scalp will overreact. For example, the head and the hair becomes oily. Use a shampoo that suits your head skin type.
2. Notice the hairstyles:Certain hairstyles have a certain effect for hair defense mechanisms. If someone is always with her hair in a tight ponytail style, it would be very damaging to the hair in the long term.
3. Nutritious foods:A good idea to increase the foods that contain omega fatty acids, vitamin C, biotin, protein, and iron. Food is good to add to your daily diet. The foods that contain these substances will strengthen and suspend hair.
4. Observe the condition of the hair:Condition of the hair needs to be monitored. In particular physical appearance, such as hair gets thinner, more brittle, or hair started falling out. If this happens, immediately consult a doctor as soon as possible.
5. Avoid stress:Put yourself in the position of stress can be bad for the hair. Therefore, avoid stress triggers damage to the hair. To stop the stress and worry over your hair loss, try some meditation and yoga classes. It teaches you how to relax, which can help calm the mind

I am not sure if this thread is still alive, but in case somebody finds his way here.

LASER LASER LASER and again LASER

Laser Therapy has been around since last century and most people don't believe in it to date.. I can't stop wondering why?
Hair loss in men is almost ALWAYS a result of MPB - Male Pattern Baldness. Look at your father and if he is bold, so will you - if you are a guy - simple as that, or rather SAD as that.....
But there is light... it is LASER light...MPB can't be cured as yet - but it can be halted - AND reversed....AND kept at bay...
LLLT provides deep tissue stimulation via laser red light with 650nm wave length which penetrates beneath the scalp and directly stimulates hair follicles thus increases blood supply etc. etc.....
With MPB the hair follicles are literally "suffocated" by DHT (dihydrotestosteron) that restricts their nourishment.
There are 2 fronts to combat hair loss - THEY MUST BE TAKEN BOTH.
1 - LLLT follicle stimulation and
2 - DHT blocking
I guess people still don't believe in LLLT because they make the BIGGEST mistake - they buy the CHEAP device - weak LLLT devices such as laser combs. STAY AWAY from them - they DO have all approvals, medals and whistles - but they have one thing in common - THEY DO NOTHING FOR YOUR HAIR....
i am 58 and bald. My son started balding at 17. I paid for his laser clinic just to have piece of mind, not really believed in it myself. The result astonished me..It WAS expensive, but it worked.
After 6 months treatment ended his hair slowly started to recede again. I was looking at 4k each 6 months? Hell no, I am an electronic engineer so I built the 432 laser diode full head machine myself in my garage - and my son now has full head of hair. He uses my laser machine every day for 20 minutes...
It may take less than 432 of 5mW laser diodes to get your hair back. If your hairloss is less severe you could do with less, but never ever buy anything with less than 100 diodes - real LASER diodes, because some devices still use LED diodes - and I wonder why they do it?? Because LEDs do absolutely nothing for your hair...
There are great many useless devices on the market but only a couple can do it - but they are greatly overpriced - at least they work unlike the cheap combs that do nothing...
I wonder who buys them....
cheers

Are you saying only HT is works for MPB?
I don't think it does - if it is before "completion".

According to the dermatologist the perfect solution of this hair fall problem is the hair transplant surgery which in reality is most invasive as well as expensive too. But you can find the hair transplant treatment in India at much more Affordable prices with best hair transplant results.

Hello guys

I haven't tried Rogaine or Minoxidil, as I have heard from some of its users that these have many side-effects. I am suffering from hair loss from the past few months. I started using Hair Fast- a vitamin cyclical therapy programme which uses low dose vitamins. I am regaining hair slowly. My doctor told me that within 4 months of its use, I will be able to notice that new hairs are growing on my scalp. Now, I am in the third month. I am keeping my fingers crossed and waiting eagerly for the fourth month.
