Question for Jacob and Others

Post by tapitin » Tue Mar 04, 2014 8:10 pm

Hi Guys,

I have been experiencing scalp pain on the top of my head (no pain on back and sides). I have come to the conclusion that it is from dried sebum and oils (could be seb derm). I have had a little bit of success using Salicylic Acid Scalp Peels 10%, it does a pretty good job removing the sebum. This dried sebum is very hard to remove. Here are a list of things that I have tried.
-Emu Oil
-Coconut Oil
-Scalp Peels
-Boar Brush
-Lamas Topical
-Immortal Hair Topical
-Zix Topical
-PolySorbate 80 topical

I know Jacob is big on scalp condition and making sure you have a healthy scalp. Are there any topicals or internals or methods that you recommend for removing tough, dried oils and sebum? It has been to the point where there is pain when the wind blows my hair a certain direction. Any help would be greatly appreicated.

Hey Tapitin- welcome to HLF and apologies for the late response.

Have you tried any type of scalp massager that can be used while shampoo'n? I use that Hair Sonic(was just on major sale recently again) which I would think would help..but I've never had scalp problems that bad. Worst was years ago when I first started experiencing major hair loss- scalp was all gunked up but not dried up and no pain. Some sensitivity though. It's possible that Skin Revolution topical or that Ultimate Scalp Defense could help..but it's possible they could bother your scalp too.

I would also seriously look into gut health if you haven't already. Probiotics probiotics probiotics...and a good oil supplement..omega 7 too..maybe enzymes..etc. I noticed Swanson has their Skin Pill on BOGO: http://www.swansonvitamins.com/lee-swan ... l-30-sgels Maybe their Ceramides product would also help. I guess if I were in your situation I'd be trying out a # of things to try to get things under control.

Oh..and a good shower filter if you don't use one already 8)

There are a couple of threads on probiotics/probiotic-like that may be good for skin/scalp health:

Some things/links discussed are no longer available. Did a quick a search again and came across these:
