FDA corruption

Interesting article which depending on what you extrapolate from the article which points to some of the shady affairs involving the FDA and its operations.

I found this excerpt particularly disturbing.

Back in January 2009, nine scientists known as the "FDA Nine" anonymously wrote to the leader of then President-elect Barack Obama's transition team "pleading with him to restructure the agency," the Wall Street Journal reported at the time. Among other things, the Food and Drug Administration scientists complained that the agency approved devices in a flawed process that ignored science, and was driven by political lobbying.

That is disturbing. And yet I read so often that the FDA takes too long to approve things..many life-saving.

The latest LEF magazine goes into this a bit..I'm assuming it'll be available to read online in the near future.
