Detox/Heavy metal chelating

Post by Jacob » Tue Jan 26, 2010 4:33 pm

Not exactly a new concept..it's been discussed many times- it's relation to hairloss. Some have reported a bit of regrowth just from doing a round of detox and/or heavy metal chelating. Most Chinese/Asian hair loss products are liver cleansing/detox related. I started looking into doing another round of this after coming across this page(again): http://www.betterhealthguy.com/joomla/i ... &Itemid=87 Some things he lists I may try..although I'm always taking in whey and still have plenty of that cysteine peptide product from Swansons (see the liver and glutathione connection) and just got finished with that phytosome-curcumin product. Modified Citrus Pectin is another. I'm sure there's some other things I take that help in this area as well..such as the greens/fruits shakes.

Some may remember a product called CH-77 discussed at Hairsite. The guy behind the product still has that regrowing hair article and picture on his website: http://www.harmonology.com.au/regrowinghair.htm Plenty of other info there..including a video. Interesting to see an autism group has "ok'd" the product: http://www.autism-nutrition.com/ch77.html

Might get it with the test kit..if I go that route. http://www.globalharmony.com.au/products.php?flg=p

Another glutathione booster..besides the cysteine peptide and OSR#1:
http://setriaglutathione.com/
http://www.vitacost.com/NSI-Setria-Glut ... with-CoQ10
Cool..I see other companies have it now: http://setriaglutathione.com/where-to-find.html

Swanson's Metal Shield..which I was on and off for awhile(seems it's changed a bit): http://www.swansonvitamins.com/SWU420/ItemDetail?n=0

Another product I got from an old post(there are obviously tons of others):
http://www.cocoonnutrition.org/catalog/ ... magnet.php

Mercury and hairloss: http://www.hairboutique.com/tips/tip10016.htm

Use a sauna: http://www.prweb.com/releases/2006/09/prweb435195.htm

This is one of those things that just makes sense to do for overall health..don't expect hair regrowth..but ya never know. I wouldn't go overboard on a combo of these things either..just my opinion..

Any other rad chelating and/or detox options out there? I should mention that milk thistle phytosome is one of my favs for the liver.

In terms of metal detoxification which is a key part of the treatment for HPU, MicroSilica is 100 times more effective than DMSA or DMPS. Detoxification of the gut sends the signal to other body compartments to release more metals. MicroSilica often helps with mental function, vision, and reduced ringing in the ears. MicroSilica should not be taken at the same time as zinc.

Here's a good thread on the MicroSilica..notice they talk about r.o.t.a.t.i.o.n: http://forums.aboutmecfs.org/showthread ... l-chelator
The whole section there on detox is excellent.

This should get some excited:
He will also do a laser detox for mercury today to help move it out faster.
Another interesting product: http://www.selfhealth.co.uk/Specialitie ... anced.html
Oral PhosphoLipid Exchange concentrate is a combination of DiSodium EDTA and essential phospholipids (EPL) in a new innovative delivery system. This new delivery system is taken orally and enhances the transport of PhosphoLipid Exchange through the intestinal wall, blood/cell and blood/brain barriers. This process successfully eliminates the possibility of diarrhoea and greatly increases the efficiency of the product.

The Essential Phospholipid EPL Microsphere EDTA System
It supplies microsphere encapsulated droplets of disodium EDTA in an essential phospholipid (EPL) delivery system with no diarrhoea symptoms and extremely high gastrointestinal assimilation to circulation bloodstream. There is a slow release of EDTA systematically over 48hr + time duration, greatly decreasing the possibility of overloading kidneys with heavy metal toxicity. It produces plasma soluble ion exchange properties; thereby minimising beneficial mineral excretion.
May be easier for some to obtain Allergy Research's product:http://www.allergyresearchgroup.com/Lip ... p-264.html

Another EDTA/phospholipid combo- Detox Max: http://www.bioimmune.com/products.htm
Plenty more info on that one:

I guess the MicroSilica and phospholipid product were mentioned in that first betterhealthguy.com link. As is this product with a study behind it: http://www.heavymetaldetox.net/

In scientific clinical research using the "gold standard" double-blind, placebo controlled trial with 350 people, it was shown that after only a 12-hour provocation with HMD™ there were many heavy metals eliminated in the post-urine and feces samples compared to baseline (figures are expressed as a % mean increase):

Antimony - 45%
Arsenic - 7,409%
Bismuth - 564%
Cadmium - 67%
Lead - 483%
Mercury - 448% - see separate mercury study HERE
Nickel - 80%
Uranium - 707%
And yes..I'm aware now that I posted the guy's website at Regrowth some time ago..although that link seems to be dead. This product caught my interest back then: http://stores.homestead.com/BiopureHeal ... .bok?no=41 This seems to be an updated list.

Those in this thread are the only ones I'm interested in

More on laser detox'n(I apologize in advance if these were posted about before..here or elsewhere):

http://www.lightfield.com/energize.htm
Dr. Lee Cowden, MD, has created a technique that combines biophotonics with homeopathy to accomplish deep levels of detoxification. Following a detailed protocol, the client is energetically tested for which toxins might be present in which organ systems. Homeopathic versions of those toxins are then programmed into small vials of water and a beam of laser (or other) light is shined through the vial and then projected onto the client's skin. This is done in a sweeping fashion, over most of the body area. But also concentrating on those areas that have a higher toxic load.

In addition to programming the appropriate toxins into the vial, the client is also tested for which flower essence support vibrations will aid the detox process. These are then programmed for additional scans. An excellent article from Explore magazine on the process is here.

So while ZNatural or NCD can bind and extract most of the toxins -- this LED procedure does have application for the more entrenched and embedded situations. Not everyone will need this, but for those who do, it is a great innovation.

Since LED operates via transmission of information, it is adaptable to other protocols and technologies which can convey bioinformation. So a broader name for this might be IED, Information Energetic Detox.

A few more tidbits..product links..

http://www.hbci.com/~wenonah/new/9steps.htm
* Proteins provide the important precursors to the endogenous metal detox and shuttle agents, such as coeruloplasmin, metallothioneine, glutathione and others. The branched-chain amino acids in cow and goat whey have valuable independent detox effects.
* Metals attach themselves only in places that are programmed for attachment of metal ions. Mineral deficiency provides the opportunity for toxic metals to attach themselves to vacant binding sites. A healthy mineral base is a prerequisite for all metal detox attempts (selenium, zinc, manganese, germanium, molybdenum etc.). Substituting minerals can detoxify the body by itself. Just as important are electrolytes (sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium), which help to transport toxic waste across the extra-cellular space towards the lymphatic and venous vessels.
* Lipids (made from fatty acids) make up 60–80% of the central nervous system and need to be constantly replenished. Deficiency makes the nervous system vulnerable to the fat soluble metals, such as metallic mercury constantly escaping as odorless and invisible vapor evaporating from the amalgam fillings.
* Without enough fluid intake the kidneys may become contaminated with metals. The basal membranes swell up and the kidneys can no longer efficiently filtrate toxins. Adding a balanced electrolyte solution in small amounts to water helps to restore intra-and extra-cellular fluid balance
Bio-Chelat..LL Magnetic Clay..etc

http://www.jashbotanicals.com/articles/ ... tocol.html
Bio-Chelat™ is an orally administered liquid chelation product from Germany, backed by documented clinical trials in both Germany and the United States. In fact, because of its efficiency in the chelation of heavy metals without generating unwanted side effects, Bio-Chelat™ has been issued a U.S. government patent, a notable distinction between Bio-Chelat™ and other chelating agents.

Bio-Chelat™ is formulated with a very dilute solution of Disodium EDTA (200mg per 100 ml bottle) vs. the traditional oral dose of EDTA at 250 mg per capsule. Other ingredients include Sodium Bicarbonate 300 mg, Citric Acid 300 mg, Potassium Chloride 100mg, Sodium Chloride 50 mg, and Calcium Chloride 5 mg as well as a small amount of an oxidative catalyst. The oxidative catalyst weakens the bonds of heavy metal ions to body tissues. Once loosened, Bio-Chelat™ grabs them and passes them through your body’s natural elimination systems.

Because it contains only a very small amount of EDTA, Bio-Chelat™ is both gentler and safer than many other chelators. It has no affect on and causes no harm to your liver, kidneys or gastro-intestinal tract. In addition, Bio-Chelat™ does not interfere with prescription medications.

Most importantly, Bio-Chelat™ attaches firmly to heavy metal ions once their bonds have been weakened and prevents them from breaking loose again and being reabsorbed into your blood stream. A problem with many other chelators is that they tend to let go of part of their payload before elimination. These newly released ions reattach to body tissues and cause damage in new areas of your body. Bio-Chelat™ hangs on from the time you swallow it until you flush it away. Bio-Chelat™ is also economical when compared to other forms of chelation, which may cost hundreds, even thousands of dollars for treatments with the additional cost of visits to your health practitioner. Finally, Bio-Chelat™ is easy to administer by adding a few drops in a glass of spring, distilled, or RO water 3 times daily. It has been proven safe for children, the elderly, and the chronically ill.

The numerous studies and clinical trials that back Bio-Chelat™ give us, at Jash Botanicals, every confidence in our strong recommendation of the product. In each case, clinical trials showed that Bio-Chelat™ is reliable and effective in reducing the total toxic load of heavy metals.

During treatment, the body’s heavy-metal-ion load is significantly decreased without disturbing important mineral and trace elements within the body, with the exception of zinc. In clinical studies done in Germany, zinc was slightly decreased, so we do suggest that you use a Zinc supplement while taking Bio-Chelat™.

Bio-Chelat™ works at a deep level to eliminate both bound and unbound heavy metal ions. To further augment or boost the effectiveness, we suggest using Bio-Chelat™ in conjunction with LL’s Magnetic Clay Detox Baths. As Bio-Chelat™ extracts heavy metals from your tissues the baths pull out unbound heavy metals and toxic chemicals and eliminate them through the pores of your skin.

Thanks for the links Jacob......I had mercury poisoning and went through a number of things to get rid of it from DMSA pills, Glutathione pushes, EDTA chelation therapy, clay baths and now I take Swanson's Metal Magnet. I took me a good year and half to get it out. I never new this but the term Mad Hater syndrome came from people who worked in factories turning fur into felt and caused them to have serious neurological problems from mercury in the brain.

Any negative reactions from using those things? I never did with the Metal Shield or MCP...guess I'll find out with these other things..

I came across a few bottles of that Swanson Metal Magnet or Shield..whatever it's called now. Expires in Feb so guess I'll use those up. Along with the MicroSilica and then a bit later(possible with the MicroSilica still) the Bio-Chelat. A clay bath here and there would be nice too..but I may have to sell something first.(I'm curious to know what clay you used) Then probably some multi-mineral product. Swanson's Cysteine Peptide for the glutathione..maybe rotate with OSR#1.

I wanted to use the ACZ Nano/200 and phospholipid EDTA products..but I'm not going to risk ordering such products and then have them freeze. Those will have to wait for summer/fall. I'm not really having any health problems because of heavy metals etc...just want to do a "cleanse" here and there like the liver cleanses. And something beyond what I've been doing...

Cool..that's the same stuff in that link above that also sells the Bio-Chelat. Still not sure if I'll get the clay..but it's nice to know they can be ordered together.

Were you the one using those glutathione patches? Or by pushes..do you mean those things we don't wanna talk about...

A heads up for those interested in the MicroSilica. They say nothing compares to it..but I did notice other, much cheaper..similar..products out there. Something to use down the road...

http://www.qncenter.com/store/product.p ... 280&page=1
Since this microscopic plant food enters the blood stream and travels through the arteries, capillaries and veins it encompasses the complete circulatory system by absorbing heavy metals, parasites, fungus, bacteria, viruses, molds, mycotoxins and many other pathogens. This negatively charged plant food attracts these positive toxins and releases them from the body.

One gram of Micro Plant Powder has a surface area of over 8,600 square feet of pure absorption surface with a strong negative charge. It simply vacuums the body of garbage that is not needed or wanted. The Micro Plant Powder has a pH level of 8 making it an alkaline food source which is great for the body by keeping all systems clear and balanced for health. Micro Plant Powder strengthens the body to a point of higher resistance by allowing for an improved immune system. This is a hard mineral food, and 99% of Micro Plant Powder goes right through the body in a cleansing detoxification process.
Same info on this one..prob the same source. Also comes in chocolate/carob flavor..

Well..I don't plan on dunking my head in the bath...but my guess is there'd be a bit of that going on if used topically. If that was really going to help I would think some other mineral product would be better though..

Jacob I take Metal Shield not Metal Magnet lol always get those mixed up.....No I never tried the Glutathione patches...the Glutathione pushes were a big plastic vial and they would push the glutathione solution fast into the vein...with Glutathione the faster into the vein the better the other agents such as EDTA chelation are better as a drip method over a number of hours. I was lucky to have a doctors office right near my home that deals with natural methods just as much as pharmaceutical medicine. It's called Woodlands Healing Research Center in Quakertown,Pa. Jacob does MicroSilicab break the blood brain barrier to get the metals out of the brain?

Ah..I see. I thought maybe you were "pushing" something somewhere

As far as I know MicroSilica does not break the blood/brain barrier. It's more to assist in removing things via the gut. One quote from above: "Detoxification of the gut sends the signal to other body compartments to release more metals." Another one found elsewhere: "One approach is to start the patient on agents that will first support removal of metals from the gastrointestinal tract such as chlorella and BioPure MicroSilica. Rectal EDTA (Detoxamin) may be used next followed by BioPure
Phospholipid Exchange. Most patients will require a number of different agents."

The OSR is probably the best of those mentioned that would help with getting mercury etc out of the brain. And on OSR..if it's not posted above or in the other thread..the powder does not taste good :-& . It's recommended to mix it in nut butter or peanut butter or something. I've read it being taking with phospholipids as well. The caps are more expensive if you were to keep using it..but of course it's more convenient and no taste worries. I guess you could put the powder in caps yourself :-k

From the Prevagen folks:
Prevagen does not remove mercury from the brain, but mercury has shown to elevate calcium levels in the brain.

"DETOXAMIN ORAL" To Be Released by World Health Products

World Health Products, announces the release of its newest product called 'Detoxamin Oral' on February 1st, 2010. Detoxamin Oral is designed to enhance the use of Detoxamin Suppositories.

Detoxamin Oral will be the very best oral chelation product available on the market today combining food-based cardiovascular oriented health ingredients with EDTA. The product will be an adjunct to the popular Detoxamin Suppositories. Users of both Detoxamin Suppositories and Detoxamin Oral together, will experience the most effective form of chelation therapy available on the market today. "We have taken all that we have learned about ingredients with known benefits to cardiovascular health and we have put them into Detoxamin Oral." Said Rita Ellithorpe, MD. "With the best possible combination of cardiovascular health ingredients, Detoxamin Oral will give our users a way to fight harmful heavy metals as they enter the body from foods while simultaneously fortifying the body with the best food based ingredients for cardiovascular health along with EDTA.

The ultimate program is a combination of Detoxamin Suppositories and Detoxamin Oral. However, both products can be taken separately and in particular Detoxamin Oral can easily be taken long-term for the ultimate "cardiovascular vitamin". The new Detoxamin Suppository / Detoxamin Oral combination is the total chelation answer for people concerned with damages to their bodies from some foods and damages done from a lifetime of exposure to heavy metal toxins. Never before has there been such an effective program for total chelation of harmful heavy metals.

USAGE

Detoxamin Oral will come in 120 tablet containers as a one-month supply. Users can take 2-4 per day with meals. Take 4 per day for 6 months if you are on the Detoxamin Suppository program simultaneously. For maintenance, take 2 per day thereafter for life.

Here's an interesting article from Dr. Mercola on cell phones/emf's..some quotes below on intestinal care/detox'n. http://emf.mercola.com/sites/emf/archiv ... rdous.aspx
#1 Intestinal care: Make sure you’re getting plenty of healthy probiotics. The Paracelsus Clinic in Switzerland discovered that symptoms of electrosensitivity can be reduced by providing gut barrier support. For more information, listen to the interview with Dr. Rau, medical director of the Paracelsus Clinic, available at this link.

#2 Regular detoxification programs: Not only are you dealing with increasing amounts of toxic chemicals in your environment, your body is full of microorganisms that respond to EMFs by generating increased levels of their own toxins, according to a course for physicians on this subject, taught by Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt, MD.

Hydroxocobalamin..not too many products out there that contain it.
Hydroxocobalamin, one of the three essential cobalamins that make up the vitamin B-12 complex, helps remove heavy metals from the system and supports overall detoxification. It also assists with methylation and energy production.
https://www.prohealth.com/shop/product. ... tion#title

It's currently on sale..didn't say cheap. I've seen it before..may sell something and use it for awhile now that it's on sale. Currently take plain Methylcobalamin.

What a mega-dose of b12's
Supplement Facts
Serving Size: 1 sublingual tablet
Servings Per Container: 30
Amount Per Serving %DV
Vitamin B-12 35 mg 583,333%
(as Methylcobalamin 12,500 mcg, Dibencozide 12,500 mcg, Cyanocobalamin 7,500 mcg, Hydroxocobalamin 2,500 mcg)
Top review:
Initially I was prescribed vit B12 injections but they were extremely painful so I gained no benefit from them. On taking these tablets, not only do I have no pain but I can see the benefit in my body at the growth and strength of my hair and nails.
Another product: http://www.vitamins-today.com/perque_b-12_guard.html
PERQUE delivers vitamin B-12 in its superior, activated hydroxocobalamin form. Although it is more expensive and difficult to obtain, hydroxocobalamin lasts longer and raises B-12 blood concentrations higher than other forms. For this reason, it is the only form PERQUE uses. Hydroxocobalamin requires no intrinsic factor and is taken up directly by mucous membranes regardless of digestive competence.*

Heavy smoking chelating :-k
In 2006 hydroxocobalamin was approved by the FDA as an antidote for cyanide poisoning.

Since cyanide is present in cigarette smoke (and essentially reduces the cells' ability to use oxygen), hydroxocobalamin would be a good option for smokers seeking a B-12 supplement.

A multi that contains hydroxocobalamin: http://www.planetrx.com/shop/detail.cfm ... zmap=ak891

Tanalbit:
As a powerful antioxidant and detoxifier, Tanalbit® may be taken every day as advised to help "cleanse" or "remove" toxic substances including heavy metals
http://www.intensivenutrition.com/Tanalbit.htm

They also have the hydroxocobalamin.

Edible Earth..I know there have been discussions on taking clay internally: http://www.integratedhealth.com/hpdspec ... earth.html

I never got the clay bath btw..figured the sauna will have to be enough.

Hey Jacob,

What are you currently using for metal detox? Have you done a metal detox before? If so were the benefits greatly noticed mentally?

Thanks

Currently OSR#1...a Hydroxocobalamin B12(sublingual) containing product.. and Swansons's Metal Shield- which I had left over from before.

So previously I have used the Metal Shield...Modified Citrus Pectin(for quite awhile)..whey protein I've always been taken..and other things that are supposed to help remove metals. Just trying new things- makes more sense to do a rotation of these things.

"Mentally"...the most I've noticed is with Prevagen..but it's not a metal chelator/detoxer. I quoted something from them earlier: "Prevagen does not remove mercury from the brain, but mercury has shown to elevate calcium levels in the brain."

It wasn't just for me..otherwise I'd have most likely just ordered a box or 2 of the caps. I have asked for them and others to try to carry it in smaller quantities. Not that 18g is a lot..it's just the $.

These come as straws..nice 'n convenient.

http://www.tbrlabs.com/pdf/LimuNEI.pdf

http://limuzrevolution.com/Key_to_Longevity.html
With Dr. Hanshew supervising, users of LimuZ we began seeing almost immediate reductions of 20 percent reductions of toxic metals over baseline results after only ten days use. People reported improved mental clarity, as if a fog were lifting. We began seeing positive changes very quickly and we realized that this formula really is for everybody. People between 21 and 45 looking for energy, focus, immune support and enhanced fat burning were reporting desired results, while those beyond 45 were reporting overall improved well-being.
It's for more than just reducing heavy metals..a good breakdown: http://www.i-supplements.com/limu-z-nei.html

It was the colostrum that got me to that website..they seem to specialize in it. Have a meal replacement shake with it..etc.

Get your free sample today, and find out how great you can feel by taking one of nature's best kept secrets. Call TBR Labs at 888-484-8671.
Haven't called to see if it's still good. Probably not a good time to call anyway :-s

It is still good/legit btw. Pick up at your nearest health food store if they carry it or can carry it...otherwise they send it. They'll know when you give them your zip..so don't try any funny stuff [-X

Ive followed the works of alot of the people who have mentioned here and some you havent.

The missing link in all of this appears to be the stress response or the maladaptive stress response which keeps toxins locked in.

Once this lowered daily and then reset / retrained until your body is fully Parasympathetic. Your body is in a better position to detox.

Regards
Pete

Yeah..I've been looking around for the best price since I'd like to stick with it for awhile. Bodybuilding.com seems to be the cheapest for me, as I've got a coupon that was sent to me since I haven't ordered from them in awhile.

I seem to have a bit more energy after taking it..but who knows if it's the placebo effect or ? But I like the ingreds..it'll replace the colostrum product I've been taking..and will be part of my metal-deleting regimen as well. It tastes ok too.

I'd be curious to know if you notice anything.

Yeah..that's something that's in some of the products mentioned in this thread. Used it for quite some time. I'm finding, just like everything it seems...rotation is a good idea.

In fact...the Swanson product is on sale at the moment- buy 1 get 1 free: http://www.swansonvitamins.com/SWU420/ItemDetail?n=0

cool thanks jacob... I am using this one http://www.iherb.com/Enzymatic-Therapy- ... /4926?at=0

Just curious, why do you continue to do metal detox? Shouldn't it be a thing that you do then are done with it unless you have a mouth full of metal? What sources of heavy metals do you think you are exposed to?

I used to take the Enzy product as well. Swanson's is so much cheaper with their buy 1 get 1(it was like that when I ordered it back then)..plus it has the additional ingreds. Enzy is top quality..but Swanson's is good too.

I could stop "detox'n"..and yet I'd still be taking things that deal with heavy metals etc. Things such as whey protein. Vit C(including lypo-spheric vit c) I don't *always* take something just for this purpose..it's like my liver cleanses- good to do from time to time. Pollution..contaminates from drinking/eating...etc etc. You could get rid of them all..but you'd have to live in a bubble and pray your food and drink are completely free of 'em to be able to keep them out of you forever.

BTW...here's the info on the Swanson product and the Dr behind it: http://www.swansonvitamins.com/health-l ... hield.html

Thanks Jacob,

You provide a lot of high quality information. I am enjoying the humifulvate product that I am taking, I feel as if its working taking out the metals from vaccination when I was a baby, food, etc.... Just curious, what type of things do you do for a liver cleanse. I'll keep everyone updated on the product I am taking for metals because this is my first cleanse, and I feel like I had from symptoms of heavy metal toxicity.

Keep in mind all this information comes from other sources..just like it does for everyone else

My fav liver products are those that contain Siliphos/milk thistle phytosome. I'll try to get whatever is on sale..sometimes the stuff is in a combo product. Same for the lypo-c..whatever is the best price. Places like Iherb and LuckyVitamins and Vitacost have great prices..but it still pays to shop around. Sign up at various online stores- you can get discount coupons etc. Search for that store and the word "coupons" on Google(I'm sure you already know). Or for a particular product. Even with Iherb's discount at checkout..often things are cheaper elsewhere. There's one site(I'll have to dig it up) that makes it very easy to match prices.

BTW..fiber is also important when detox'n and/or cleansing.

Hey jacob,

Can you describe your experience with OSR? Does it help with well-being, focus, immunity, heavy metals... etc.

Thanks

I'm not currently doing any heavy metal testing..so couldn't tell you. I stopped OSR(do plan to use it again at a later date) when I started the Limu NEI..and I'm experiencing more energy and wanna-keep-going with the latter. Similar to what I experienced with Prevagen(which is not a h-metal chelater btw). I'm dying to try the Prevagen for awhile again- probably this fall..to see if I notice anything like last time. Get the placebo possibility out of the way  There were days while on OSR that I felt run down..was it from the OSR and/or what it was doing? Possibly.

I'm also not experiencing the occasional allergy symptoms I was getting previously. Will see if that lasts.

I used the Limu NEI seven day free trial. One thing I can say about it while I was on it, I slept really well. Not sure why, but I slept so good that I had a difficult time waking up in the morning a few days. It did seem that my concentration was better during the work day. More energy; I can't really say if that was the case or not. I may order the 30 day supply and try it for an entire month and monitor any improvements in my physical or mental functioning. I'm not sure if 7 days is enough to make concrete judgements about the product or not.
