Saw Palmetto and Shed

Post by baldy_tq » Sun Nov 29, 2009 8:34 pm

Hi Guys,

Like everyone here I have been trying to find a way to combat hair loss.

I have been on lasers since May 2009 (250 diode helmet)

Up until October...I was doing 3X20 min....with gradual hair loss

At the start of October..I changed this to 3x15 sessions, I also started taking saw palmetto to 'block the dht'

Shedding slowed dramatically after I switched to shorter sessions, this lasted 5 or 6 weeks until mid November

Mid November to Now....#$%! Ive been shedding like nuts, I'm not sure what the reason is, I am thinking it is the saw palmetto

should I go off it? I'm worried of I stop..I may shed even more.

Has there been many cases from everyone's experiences where saw palmetto has caused massive sheds? if so was their a recovery or was it permanent?

Blood oath...I'm seriously too young to deal with this %&$!.

I don't think it's the saw palmetto, that's good stuff. Your taking the standardized extract right?

Sometimes a shed is an indicator that the treatment is working and Regrowth will follow.

Hang in there!

Anytime I touch Saw Palmetto, I shed like a Christmas tree.

For me I use it s as a dht inhibitor to stop hair loss. Maybe you're allergic to it. I've never had a problem with it but everyone is different.
Choreboy said he can't tolerate it. The SP you are using looks like good stuff. Good luck!

Duta causes similar shedding for me, which leads me to believe it has something to do with type-1 5ar inhibition. I never had the guts to keep on with Duta or SP and "weather" the sheds. Who knows... could have been helping, but I never stuck around to find out.

I don't blame you choreboy, at this point I don't want to risk losing anything, it's all about retention then regrowth.

I have no idea exactly how long they lasted but I've been able to consistently pin excessive shedding on SP, in that once I stop, things chill out. This even goes back to the days when I was hyper-newbie, never touched no nam forum... long before I was truly treating my hairloss. SP is one of the things that first comes up when you are first starting out researching hairloss, so it was one of the first things I tried. From day one, every single time I use SP or duta, things will start out looking good but within a day or three, hairs get to dippin'. I've tried to stick with it for a few weeks but the shedding never seems to slow until I stop using them. It's obviously just the way I personally react to them as there's multiple guys who do well with them... just not for me, I suppose.

On a side note, back in the day, the prescription drug Soma would instantly turn on ferocious shedding... to the point where I was getting constant hairs in the mouth... scary shedding. Never did research that at all...

i have been on saw palmetto and beta sis for 3/4 months and also noticed increased shedding a month later of starting, which hasnt stopped, i have now stopped sp and bs.
i also had a low libido and, watery semen.

once stopping saw palmetto did anyone notice that thier hair was shedding at a decreased rate than before? also the shed hairs did they grow back to normal after stopping the treatment, as it was before you started the treatment?
