Re: Hello! It has been a while!
I had a transplant about 5 years ago. Came out great. Using laser helmet and some basic supplements. Hair loss progressed somewhat but I don't care nearly as much anymore. Too busy with other stuff and have other goals.

Re: Dread Shed Reassurance
In my experience in fighting hair loss, there will be times that you shed and other times when things are going "well." I don't freak out over sheds anymore, they pass and then my hair gets "back on track." I do know that if I have been living "unhealthy" ie, staying up late, drinking alcohol, crapp...

If someone went on a forum and was like "Propecia is a scam!!! I have been on it for 6 months and my hair has gotten thinner!!!!!!!!!" I never had faith in PRP. In my opinion, in the world of hair loss, if something shows even the slightest bit of positive effects everyone jumps on it, and then you see articles about "A New Cure for Hair Loss" when it is just this little slightly effective treatment. Ughh. This %&$! has been happening for years!

Re: BE A MAN! The "Feminization of the Male" Series, by O.M.G... "Taking the pill for past 40 years 'has put women off masculine men'"
I dunno, there is totally a gender crossover thing happening, but I don't think it can be singled down to pill popping. Societies change, culture changes, the roles of men and women are not as clear cut as they were during the time humans were hunter gatherers when it simply made sense for men to do certain things and for women to do other things.
I also think a lot of this happens because there is one side of the coin, feminists, who have been oppressed forever and view the masculine as evil. Because of this there is pressure for men to suppress their testosterone fueled "#$%! it or kill it" way or are pressured to explore their feminine side, which they may enjoy or #$%! hate.
Personally, this really doesn't bother me at all. I don't agree with the idea that there is a way that a man should be, but I do agree that men has certain strengths and women have certain strengths and there is a war between them instead of embracing the strengths in each.
Actually, the pill does probably have something to do with this. Propecia too. Environmental estrogens too. %&$!.

Those are focused diodes which will be hitting the same part of the scalp for the entire treatment. When clinics have focused diodes the person is not sitting perfectly still and because of that the focused beam hits more than just one exact stop which expands that area that is being treated. Doke, I don't believe the side effect results from the trials for one second. I guarantee you that they are higher in real life. Taking 2.5 mg of dutasteride is absolutely crazy and EXTREMELY UNHEALTHY in my opinion. I think that you WILL get side effects and will not be able to continue with the drug. Don't forget that this drug is affecting your BRAIN.

Re: Stress Response and hairloss
This is a very important thread.
Personally speaking, hair loss has caused a traumatic amount of stress for me. And the stress from hair loss hasn't really lessened in the 9 years that I have been dealing with it. I do know that if I didn't have hair loss then I would be fixated on some other thing that would be driving me crazy, giving me anxiety and depression. So, the problem does not like in the hair loss, it lies in how I am looking at things and responded to my thoughts. I think that this may apply to others as well.
What I spend a great deal of time working on is NOT RESPONDING TO AND BECOMING MY THOUGHTS. For example the thought, "wow, this hair loss makes me look much uglier, girls are not going to find me attractive anymore, people are staring at my hair" is a thought that I frequently have. When my mind thinks this thought, I recognize that it is my MIND that is having this thought and it is not who I really am. So when these these negative thoughts arise, I recognize that MY MIND IS DOING THAT THING AGAIN, and let the thought go, instead of following the thought and letting it become who I am. The people who ARE judging you because of your hair are people who are not happy with themselves on some level, they have not found peace.
This "philosophy" can really help you with other aspects of your life, it can help you realize how much your MIND controls you and you can begin to discover ways to find peace by not letting your mind control you. In this way, hair loss can be seen as a gift, as the suffering you experience can lead you to a more enlightened, peaceful way of being that spreads to your whole life. You will also become more compassionate.
Doing this has really helped me deal with hair loss and other aspects of my life as well. It takes a lot of work no doubt.
I have noticed that my inflammation is lessened when I not so much fixated on my hair. It DEFINITELY plays a part in how fast your hair loss will progress (IMO).
Breathing is really important. When the pangs of anxiety creep in, if you focus on your breathe, and understand that you do not have to feel %&$! if you don't want to, you can really lessen your anxiety, and do your hair a favor.
There is a lot of information on how to treat hair loss on these forums, less information is available on how to DEAL with it.

This also goes to show how dangerous hair transplantation can be if someone does not have a "prevention" plan, aka finasteride/dutasteride or whatever is effective for the individual.
